We, the undersigned, the citizens of Canada draw the attention of the House to the following: as Canadians approach the 150th anniversary of the confederation of Canada (hereafter written as “Canada 150”), there should be an inclusive way of honouring servicewomen and servicemen for their sacrifices on behalf of the country. Whereas, the Canadian government created medals at times of commemoration in past, including 1967 and 1992, we should again reflect on what we have achieved together. The criteria would include military, veterans, first responders, volunteers, and those who have accomplished feats of courage and valour in service to fellow citizens, demonstrating the best of what it means to be Canadian.

i cant believe how much momentum is building for this idea. seeing so many people agree that we need to honor those who serve is honestly amazing.

It is foolish, in my view, to not produce a 150th medal to commemorate the service to Canada by members of this current generation. It's a low cost acknowledgement of who have served and continue to serve in uniform and otherwise.
As a serving member and a citizen of Canada by choice, I feel it would be an insult not to honor those who serve and make this country great
The history of the commemorative medal is not just a medal in itself, it demonstrates the time sacrificed for the betterment of society. It will be a shame if the medal is not created and awarded to the deserving.
Not only were there commemorative medals in 1967 and 1992, but also for the Queen's Coronation in 1953 and the Silver, Golden and Diamond Jubilees These types of medals are a Canadian Tradition
I hope that the Canada 150 medal has a more generous distribution than the Centennial or Canada 125 Medals did.
We need to recognize our first responders who have made many sacrifices as well as contributions in their service to Canada. This is the right thing to do.

I have served our military and have been a first responder for 31 years Total of both is 37 years 1967 brought the centennial medal and 92 the 125 medal It is deplorable to direspect people who serve this country for political reasons
