The allocated spend could be put to much better use to benefit the local community and in times of osterity. Why spend public money on a new Library when one already exists? Why spend public money on something the people in the local community are happy with the service the Library already offers? Why oust a much loved hub that is Strood Community Project, run by and serving local people? If the want to enhance Strood the develop the old Civic centre site, a cafe` or too, some small local businesses and make Strood a place to visit, a real extension of Rochester, with great views, a place to actually sit by our lovely river. Please listen to the people, it is our money you are spending!

Why moving a perfect positioned and equipped
Library to a place and destroy a community charity
that was helping so many people & youth in the area!
WHY?that is my question to the council that once again is making
big mistakes and is careless about people and local
Residents! Get a life counsellors and start getting
out your ivory tower and see what is really needed
and necessary in the community: please Wake up!

Strood Library is a great asset to our community and should be left in the purpose built location it is currently. Used by so many in the local community moving or reducing its services will decline the use of the library. Moving to the high street with no free parking and reducing the service offered will mean the so many people will not use this service, in its current location many schools and nurseries can walk safely to use and explore the many services it offers. Do NOT move our library let it continue to serve its community in the way it does so well!!

I don't see the proposed relocation as practical to be honest. Many a good memory as a youngster at Strood library. It serves the community well where it is & ought not to be dumped in the high st. in what appears to be an ill-thought out attempt at rejuvenating one at the expense of the other.

Strood Library is a wonderful community hangout already. It needs only an enlarged 'café' area to be entirely perfect...It encompasses the best end of 70's architecture, and, hence is about 10 years more modern than it's proposed 'replacement'!! Madness!!

As a young child, I practically lived in Strood Library, it has always been a great place to spend the holidays in, going to the clubs and activities, run by the staff or just to meet up with friends and talk. Me, my brothers and my sister would go to the baby bounce sessions as well as toddler shake and boogie. Therefore, there is no point in moving the library into a smaller, more cramped building. Save Strood Library!

Strood Library is an important part of our community. Over the years I have taken my three kids to 'baby bounce','toddler shake and boogie'. And many holiday craft sessions. My children take out many books and dvds. And I have just started letting my oldest son walk down to the Library by himself. Something which he wont be able to do if this move goes ahead. It makes no sense to demolish our beautiful purpose Library, spend 3 million pounds turning a shop into a community hub. With reduced services, no parking. And reduced Library staff. I for one will be very sad to see our beautiful Library destroyed. Save Stood Library!.

Strood Library is big enough to accomadate all our needs for our community. I protest at the Councils high handed attitude in ignoring the the local community's who do not want or need it moved, or the cost to the taxpayers.

As a Strood resident I have been using the library since I was a toddler, and was shocked to learn that it it being relocated at a detriment to the services it provides. Not only that, but that it's new home will displace the Strood Community Project charity shop which largely funds the support of people of all ages in the area. The fact that there has been no public consultation is appalling, not to mention Councillor's responses to protests. Something needs to be done to remind Tory Councillors that they cannot ignore the needs and requests of the local people, especially when what it is calling for disrupts so many.

It would be a tragic loss to the local community to shut the current library and move it to a dangerous, main road with little space and a very limited service and make us pay for it.
