Strood Library is a vital part of the community. WHY move it from a council owned building to a rented one. I'm Disabled in a wheelchair and there are parts of the building their planning to move to that I and all wheelchair users won't be able to access. WHY move it to somewhere with no proper disabled facilities and money would have to be spent doing it up to make it disabled friendly, when a building already exists that is disabled friendly. I'm fed up with the council spending lots of money moving community buildings rather than spending less money decorating existing buildings.

Having lived in Strood since I married nearly 30 years ago, the library has been invaluable for my family. We have all loved borrowing books and sharing wonderful stories. We have viewed paintings, borrowed videos and DVDs.

strood library is a purpose built buildingowned by council, why pay rent on another, they have taken 2 million from the housing budget when we have 2nd largest housing list in kent !! no public consultation no truthfulness bulldozing it through !! outrageous behavior they need to local constituants over 5000 oppose this

Strood Library is a well loved, well supported and vibrant centre of our community. The council have wilfully ignored the wishes of the local residents who overwhelming do not wan the Library to move from Bryant Road. The new site will be a downgrading of the library service. Join the Save Strood Library campaign and fight back!

They Council are shooting themselves in the foot here. no one can park in the only council run car park on market days which are tuesday and saturdays. So where are the people who drive to the library supposed to park on them days? They can't. So the library will suffer and the market will suffer because no one can.park and have a wander around. Well done Medway Council. Once again your idiotic plans to make things easier (john hawkins flyover demolition) will result in making our lives WORSE.

We've already lost the facility to borrow music from Strood library, a smaller venue will just mean less to borrow. It's all very well the bean-counters telling us we can order it in, but that means that only the most motivated will bother and people won't stumble across things they might not have thought of trying.

My kids and I have spent a great deal of time in Strood library over the past 10 years, and it has been an invaluable resource to us. It is unique in the area in having a large, self-contained children's library with a full calendar of activities for all ages. The proposed site can in no way compete with what the library currently provides.

Strood Library is part of Strood's cultural hearth. Strood doesn't have a great deal to offer it's residents, but the library makes up for the lack in many brilliant ways. It offers a quiet retreat with a brilliant space for development and learning. I am afraid to say that other High Street libraries just don't work in the same way. This shouldn't just be about offering a functional service; it should be about strengthening community, which Strood Library definitely does.
