The Brown field site at the old brewery needs to be developed before anymore green space is used. Must fight to keep the meadows build on these meadows would be an absolute disaster they are used by many from riders and walkers and would spoil a view of Alton forever. We need to preserve this remaining green open space in this town and the ecology it provides. Not to mention the wildlife and forna species it’s Home to.

I am appalled by the proposed development over precious land rich in wildlife and valuable chalk downland plants and insects. The local South Downs Park Authorities are attempting to recreate similar chalk downland meadows just down the road while the Alton meadows are left to the greed of developers and the rulings of an irresponsible and careless local authority which shows no duty of care for the environment or the wishes of local people. The proposed housing is certainly not for those in need locally and, to add insult to injury, does not even provide the minimum requirement of social and affordable housing. A brownfield site in town would adequately fulfil the housing targets for the town without touching such a valuable unique greenfield site which should be kept for the people of Alton and generations to come.

This site should not be built on at all. The noise, disruption and pollution caused by any building works will surely destroy or drive out any plant and wildlife that is left. The mess left when the soil samples were taken clearly shows the developers disregard for nature – it’s all about money. Forget claims about affordable housing If any is built the percentage will be so small it will be irrelevant. Brown sites 1st with predominately affordable housing I wonder how many developers would be interested in that

Please stop destroying what valuable green space we have left. With rising health and obesity problems destroying open spaces will affect future generations, not to mention the impact it will have on the environment.

Meadows are lovely open spot full of butterflies and wildflowers and should be reserved for leisure in this increasingly urbanised landscape.

So much housing in alton all in beautiful green sights, should we not be building on brown sights, if which there are many . We also need more affordable housing for our first time buyers and renters.
