Butterfly habitats are fast disappearing. Please save this one. Alton is a special place on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Please keep it special not just for Jane Austen & Watercress Line enthusiasts but also for nature lovers & all who value biodiversity.

What's the point in us lecturing 3rd world nations about destroying their precious habitats, when our authorities are happy to do the same here!

Stop building houses on greenfield land

Please do not takeaway one of the South of Englands last beauty spots

There should be a full EIA performed before anything happens on this site. We should be trying to preserve such beautiful areas!

Brownfield sites should be developed before such naturally beautiful areas that are so rich with wildlife.

Disgusting and unnecessary desstructiond of yet more countryside by profit-hungry developers and lazy authorities. So many brownfield options and empty properties in the area to develop. Time to do something right.

We do not need anymore housing properties within the Alton area, we're currently already stretched to the max as it is. Alton and its surrounding areas are a beauty to experience.

I went for a wonderful walk today on these butterfly meadows, it will be a great shame on our community to lose this.

Will the EHDC ever care enough about Alton to even apply the law of the land?

With the right management Alton Butterfly Meadows could be a high-quality asset to the local community and wildlife. The proposed development is a shameless attempt to extract as much profit as possible at the expense of both and should be re-thought to better accomodate the needs of the community and environment.

With such pressure for house building in our area it's more vital than ever that we are sensitive to the needs of the natural environment.

Such meadows are vital for the survival of much wildlife and should be protected.
