Alton can't take anymore! Development is killing the town.

This is happening all around this area, not just in Alton.

Once it's gone, it's gone for good, we should do something now to preserve this lovely meadow before it is too late.

It is time that EHDC started to listen to its residents

Once sites like this one are gone, they can never be reclaimed. For the benefit of everyone we must conserve these precious places.

This is a classic example of EHDC ignoring the people of Alton, if this had been near Petersfield they would have protected it straight away.

This is an important site from a biodiversity perspective in an area that has already seen the destruction of similar natural sites. Preserving the meadow will allow Altonians access (without the use of their cars) to the beauty and peace of a natural resource that should be preserved for them and the benefit of future generations.

Brownfield sites should always be developed first. Without biodiversity there is no future for any of us.

The brewery site sits untouched, greedy developers should not be allowed on greenfield until all the brown has been exhausted!

These are beautiful meadows. Alton museum has many displays bemoaning the loss of wild flower meadows in this area over the past 50 years. The few that remain should be protected not sacrificed for the sake of characterless housing developments. Future generations are being robbed of their natural heritage.

Please don't kill the countryside, preserve it for our children...

Help save the wildlife

losing this valuable natural site would be an irrisponsible decision for the future of our children and their children too.

There will be no local natural space left at this rate...this is a place of beauty on the outskirts of Alton and the home of so many insects and animals. One of the benefits of living in Alton and makes it lovely is the natural places like this.

I may be from the US, and I may have never seen this place, but it sounds beautiful, and nature is majestic, and to destroy such an awesome looking place would be horrible.

why destroy such beautiful land enjoyed by so many , bad enough the hospital was demolished !!!

The meadows are an important part of Alton's history and rare species of plant and insect life would be effected by the destruction of their habitat. There is a real need for these areas to be left for the enjoyment of future generations. When they are gone there is NO turning back.
