Campaign To Prevent Land on Shroggs Road, Halifax being developed

Halifax is just starting to raise it's profile, especially with the Piece Hall and the Dean Clough area, this site will just bring the town back down again. This idea really needs to be re-considered

Deer and foxes live on that field, lots of old people live near here and walk their dogs in the park which they will feel unsafe having travellers walking their dogs there which they usually do off lead. There’s no cameras close by to the site which would be needed for people walking to and from town as it’s a popular route from Wheatley/ mixenden. Also the government guidelines say the travellers should have privacy which this site doesn’t allow as it is viewable from the top side at Pelion and from the woods in shroggs park. They need a site closer to local amenities which also has cctv

There are plenty more sites more suitable for this sort of thing in the town centre

It’s disgusting tax payers will pay again to build the site as well as clear there rubbish away again. If we said ground rent and council tax they would be up in arms!!!

A site so close to a town centre seems odd to call it a travellers site. This area needs uplift, Not trodding down.

This is a ridiculous idea and will reduce house prices and cause illegal activity to take place in the surrounding areas. Why Calderdale council feel this is a necessity I don’t know!

We don't need anything like that in this area they need to be elsewhere.

Let them go on the old gas works site behind Sainsbury's, they can rob all the local businesses instead of homes!!!!!!!

I don't want the travelers to stop travelling as it will be against their way of life.

Not what we need anywhere round Halifax. We are trying to make it a better place to live in and having a load of gypsies living here will only set us back and house prices in the surrounding areas will fall. Look after the tax payers first

John, Wheatley Yeah, thanks, lower my house price and those of all the people around here. Make it impossible to sell a house. People prefer not to be robbed and intimidated, to hear dogs barking at all hours, to see a mess everywhere. Jog on travellers, this is a nice area. You're not wanted.

why put all the local fplkout use the land what its there for building not a carvan site will the chidren of the gysies use our school our churches very much dought it and if they do they wont be enough places for the local kiddies

This council need to listen to those that voted them in this is not a suitable venue you will destroy to much of the eco system

This feels very close to where people live, I understand they need somewhere to go but that space is so close to the stream and woodland would it not get ruined.

Gross mis-judgement! Wild life areas need to be maintained for the animals themselves and for the residents to enjoy it.

They considered over a 1,000 other sites and decided on Ovenden. What a coincidence, no one cares about our area in the council, I thought it was just the condition of the roads, the lack of public bins, salt boxes, but obviously the hate must run deeper to consider this. I'll be down on the picket line if you try and push this through into my area. Some of us have invested our lives in this area. How about Savile Park Moor? Loads of spare grass up there and you already have a circus and a show in the area annually. No? Thought not.

Lets concentrate on our homeless. Not them that choose to live out of the system, why should tax payers fund a site for travellers, who avoid paying tax. All wrong!
