Save it. The whole atmosphere is just so positive and happy. The revenue raised by the thousands that attend surely is nothing to be sneezed at. So many people, businesses and towns benefit from this occasion. Please, please, please listen to the people.

This festival is known around the world and is keeping Charlton afloat. Please make sure you support it. The Council CEO is the main problem he has personally opposed and blocked this festival and he needs to stop

I spoke to a small business owner from a neighbouring town on the way home last year...she was thrilled with Maitreya... Said she made more money that weekend than she had done all year! Your local community can only benefit from this awesome event!

This festival has help change my life and the lives of so many young and old and bring so much to the local community, it would be so sad not to have it at this beautiful place this year

As a small business owner I implore you to listen to your townsfolk who are already struggling with the drought & let this festival run as this will bring much needed business & generate alot of money to your small town. & please don't take this as a threat but when politicians don't listen to their voters & become arrogant, they usually don't have a long career... something to think about election time.

our Charlton and wider community desperately needs your help. With petitions circulating having 2,000+ signatures, our council is not listening to the people it is meant to represent. The Buloke Shire council knocked back planning permits for Maitreya to go ahead at Wooroonook Lakes this labor day weekend, without consulting any locals... What does this mean for us? Businesses who have preordered stock from interstate for this will surely go broke and close down. Community members were not listened to at a special public meeting and were simply told 'no' it's not going ahead. When escalated to VCAT the council has decided not to mediate... From taking months to hand on permits to the relevant agencies making it impossible for the promoter to have these passed in time, to no community consultation, businesses going to lose a lot of money in wasted stock and a council not willing to listen to the people they supposedly represent, we need you to step in and help... The Buloke Shire has constantly been incompetent in their handling times of correspondence, handing on permits and denying mediation at VCAT... With their continual delays & no one listening to the community, we need you to step in!
