We need this for our town. Fernandina is nice but it's farish away and Hilliard is alright but it's just eh.

I would love to see the town use Ewing Park for a skate park. There is more than enough room at this location. I believe that a skate park will draw extra business in as well when you think about it. If parents are dropping their kids off in the town they live in then the money that is spent on food and drinks stays in the town he lping big and small business alike. If the kids are taken out of the town to skate other parks then so is the money. It is a win win for the town when you think about.

I think the wasted space at Ewing Park is sad. I frequent there enough to know. There's the occasional basketball game going on, but the court is mostly desolate. I have personally witnessed the police enforcing the no skateboarding policy up there. While I understand the police side of it because our family is personally part of JSO, I also think it's silly that a place like a park is considered illegal to skate. Our community needs a place to skate, there is a need for it here. Our society is so overly focused on making a living, work, and school that we fail to see the importance of community building and exercise. If there were a park you would cut down greatly on the amount of people trying to skate private businesses, if the police frequented the park and talked with the youth and their families it would build a better relationship between the police and the community. I really hope we can make this happen!

Callahan needs a skatepark. The town complains about where they skate now so why not give them an area to skate!! The skaters deserve it just like any other sport!!
