Coventry, Kensington London,and Southend.are all large Towns , Cities, What have they in common with Kirkintilloch ?Kirky is a one Street wonder .If you need to go up the Street you must pass through this .

This is a ridiculous proposal, the junction will be dangerous for both traffic and pedestrians without the lights and pedestrian crossing especially for blind and visually impaired people, the elderly and disabled, and children. An accident waiting to happen. I would urge the council to rethink this.

During the trial I thought the junction was unsafe without the lights. As a driver I tentatively approached it, hoping no children would make an error and step out. As a pedestrian, negotiaing the junction was even worse. I have good vision and hearing but didn't feel safe without the pedestrian crossing lights. EDC's plan is misjudged, very unpopular with users of the junction and downright dangerous. Without the lights and the visual and auditory signals of the 'green man' how are those with visual and hearing impairment supposed to manage? How are they to feel safe and confident crossing the road? Please rethink the plan and keep the crossing as it is. EDC's duty is to help the public stay safe, after all.

The partially sighted man at Catherine Street today asked if we could all go onto the Kirkie Herald website and post any comments we have on there!
