Glyphosate was originally patented in 1961 as a descaling agent to clean out calcium and other mineral deposits in pipes and boilers. It is now one of the most widely used herbicides with numerous examples of the danger it poses both to wildlife and humans and Wandsworth should not be using it.

We have just got to a stage where the bees and wildlife are starting to return. And there is evidence that this chemical is not only harmful to wildlife but seriously harmful to humans who come in contact with it as well.

“Tidiness” is a scourge. Weeds are plants with important roles in the ecosystem. Let them be on our verges!

The science is there, so I find it difficult to understand why our local council declares a commitment to protecting the environment andyet uses toxic chemicals which are harmful to wildlife.

Please ban this toxic product, Roundup or any like it. I live near Wandsworth Park and would love you to plant more insect pollinating plants. I know you have kept the park clean in this covid time, but we could have many more wild pasture areas to encourage wildlife, especially near the Point Pleasant entrance to the right where the shrubs are dying for lack of water. Drought resistant grasses would be great instead. Thanks

Do not use glycophosphates. It’s a nasty chemical with damaging effects on the environment

I support this petition for reasons stated and for safety of pets.

Glyphosate has been linked to the weakening of bee immunity. We can use less toxicmaterial - Hackney does

As a beekeeper, I find the use of roundup extremely troubling. It’s poisonous for beds and other essential insects.

Yes: we need to support pollinators by not poisoning them. Probably best not to poison humans as well. Come on Wandsworth BC, do the RIGHT thing, not the cheapest thing. Most people would gladly pay more council tax if the LA started demonstrating greener, sustainable behaviour. Maybe if we raised council tax we wouldn’t have to sell off parts of our common land to commercial enterprises. Let’s think long term and avoid short term decisions that consider the immediate cash flow of the LA only.

Spraying the soil with chemicals is pre-historic in thinking. We have an 'insectageddon' in loss of insect life and biodiversity and speaking as one long term Wandsworth resident I've had enough of it. The only insect I saw in Battersea Park last year was a dead one. Why? Well - there are no flowers! Anything that tries to grow someone comes and 'strims' away and you are still using blowers to blow away leaves - no just from the paths but from under the trees. (Has it not dawned on anyone that the leaves provide nourishment for trees plants and insects - that's how nature works. All the insects die. And on top of that you are still putting toxic chemicals on the land? Please - do we not have more respect for nature than this in Wandsworth. I thought you wanted to be a leader in Environmental issues? Please - ban Roundup use TODAY.
