For many years Winsford had worked hard to shed the reputation as merely a Liverpool and Manchester 'overflow' from the 60's. I grew up in Winsford and still live here; after completing my degree in 1995 I heard the prejudice first hand at teacher interviews at other Cheshire schools. I returned to Winsford to teach in 1999 and after the construction of the new academy and improvements in the accommodation in our town is leaving is former reputation behind. Please don't allow our town to once more be the County dump and send us backwards 40 years!

I am a Winsford resident and feel a prison is the last thing we need..we need to be putting Winsford on the map for positive reasons not for a prison...

CWAC again thinking they are ignore the wishes of local people in Winsford. A student with 30 mins to spare could idendifly numerous sites more suited to a prison facility say no no no

Adam Bounds Do you live in winsford ? Or have a family and children in winsford? If the answer is no the you havent really the right to put ours at risk. if yes and you support this then what the hell are you thinking...... Mrs Sandbach i call on you to do everything within your power to halt this proposal and in return im sure the community of winsford will support your efforts. Winsford is a small town with a fantastic industrial easte and their is no reason to put a prison on their. it is far to close to resdiential areas aswell as winsford having around 10 schools/educational sites. I understand prisons are secure places but at the same time do the parents of winsford want the children growing up around one. No i would like to hope. The investment should be found from somewere else. It seems astho all the towns around us have had plenty of investment over the years yet winsford is still sat on the back foot and its time someone trys to change this. Winsford was big town with a strong influence a few decades ago, we have one of the biggest salt mines in the world 3rd biggest salt mine in europe. Aswell as like i said a fantastic industrial estate so insted of a prison why dont we try and attract some big bussiness to put some of their company's infrastructure on the industrial estate insted of a prison. Or evan a big youth center for 10-18 yo to enjoy and provide them with something more productive to do insted of getting into things they shouldnt through bordom. Cinema, bowling alley, climbing wall, karting center, activitys that can be taken part by everyone as well as educational work shops ran by local firms to give young men and women in the local area a taste of some of the trades within the area on offer when they leave school and look for appretiships and collage courses in industry. something witch whilst their inschool their pushed to decide on a path they have never evan had a taste of, how can a child decide he wants to be this that or the other at ye

It's about time you give winsford and winsford people a break and invested properly in the town instead of shafting the town yet again! Give the kids something positive to aspire to, don't compound what many of them feel already about the town and their future. Make it a town to be proud of!!! How unfair to try and sneak this prison through when you fully know how deprived the area is and the apathy and poor literacy of many of the residents, you should be ashamed that you are using the fact many cant/won't read the paper/enormous consultations to get what you want, shame on you, I don't know how you sleep at night. This is an absolute disgrace!!!!!!!

Winsford is building more homes and we would like to see some serious discussion on the failing infrastructure and business investment to support this growing town.

For something that will impact on local people, why wasn't there a public consultation?

I can think of many things that would bring people to Winsford for really positive reasons. A prison wouldn't be one of them

We do not need this prison in Winsford. When are we going to get something that Winsford really needs that will benefit all residents.

This needs more consultation. Where in Winsford and what type of prison and why Winsford ?

Winsford is already too reliant on public sector jobs Police and Fire HQ and Cheshire West. I feel that Winsford in many ways is being degraded and this would further add to that

We do not want a prison on our doorstep. If you want a prison in Cheshire West and Chester, why not choose Chester? Why does Winsford wth one of the first to get an Industrial Estate instead of prosper get all the rubbish investments.?
