I was part of 2021 cohort, we had similar issues maybe not at such a large scale but the outcry was certainly there even back then.

TEF, owned by Tony Elumelu and his wife, is a oure SCAM. In fact lets just call it a mega form of yahoo boys cons. They have also scammed the so called winners of the WE4A 2024 cohort. They are taking money from partners in the disguise of empowering African entrepreneurs. This is quite sad for a fellow who claims to be a billionaire yet he is at the frontline scamming money from poor and desperate people, some of whom are pregnant women - causing them so much pain! Why Tony? Why scam your fellow Africans?

Everything about the program has red flags, certainly poiting towards fraud. The program participants were left in uncertainty and despair. The program is exhausting—not the promised 10 weeks, but an entire year. They consistently miss their timelines.we urgently need a published list of winners to reassure everyone that the process is transparent and equitable. Without this, the program's credibility remains in question.

Not fair how they don't communicate leaving people in despair ..very tiresome process , program doesn't take 10 weeks but a whole year. They don't keep up with their timelines and clearly it's more of a lottery than philanthropy. Seems people are not awarded based on credibility but luck. We need a list of winners to assure all people that all will be well.. otherwise it's really not fair!

TONY ELUMELUE FOUNDATION ARE SCAMMERS. BEWARE! The Tony Elumelu Foundation, founded by Tony Elumelu and his wife, has been running a program dubbed Women Entrepreneurs for Africa (WE4A). According to the foundation, winning participants are supposed to receive USD 5000 as seed capital to pursue greening businesses. The first phase was launched in 2023, dubbed WE4A I. In 2024, they ran the second phase, dubbed WE4A II. Successful applicants for WEA4 II were taken through virtual courses and webinars. Next, they selected those participants that would proceed to the next phase. During this phase, the applicants were interviewed through Whatsapp video calls by staff from TEF where they were asked to verify their identity by showing their identity card. The interviewers took photos of the participants holding their identity cards. They also recorded the calls. After this phase, winners were selected and informed formally through a congratulatory email that was sent out around mid November 2024. In the congratulatory email, the supposed winners were required to provide further documents including: 1. National ID or passport 2. Bank reference letter 3. Tax registration certificate 4. Company registration certificate Important to note that the winners were encouraged to open an account with UBA bank, whose chairman is Tony Elumelu, the co-founder of Tony Elumelu Foundation and also one of the founders of UBA. bank. This communication also informed the winners that once their documents are submitted, they would receive the funds (USD 5000) in their bank accounts. As the 'winners' waited for the seed capital to hit their accounts, two videos went out in the YouTube channel of the Tony Elumelu Foundation on December 20, 2024. One of the videos was by the CEO of the foundation, Somachi Chris-Asoluka. The other video was by Paz Valezquez, EU Acting Head of Unit for International Partnership. Below are the links to the two videos. Video by Som

I am a 2021 TEF finalist who equally received seed Capital in my bank account but surprisingly UpTo now I have not been allowed to withdraw the money from this UBA bank in Zambia. I feel TEF has become a scam teaming up with UBA across Africa to loot up scarce resources from young African entrepreneurs by inticing them to open up bank accounts with UBA assuming all costs of business registrations in their countries and subjecting them to harsh treatment in UBA. Imagine for two solid years I have been trying to withdraw the seed capital from UBA but to know avail. TEF is silent and UBA is equally silent not responding to official letters I have written. Some UBA employees have said off record that the bank wants to send back the money to TEF. Imagine the money has sat in my account for over 2yrs and I have been refused to withdraw??? Is TEF and UBA scamming? Why return the money for a grant that has been released to a recipient if he is not allowed to withdraw the fund from the account? Where are other donors that partnered with TEF they need to hear where there money is going???
