Call for enforcement action regarding development at 1 Quarry High Street

Dangerously, unsuitably sited. Very difficult to use the footpath as the building encroaches so much.

This development, in a Conservation Area is too tall, too near the road and includes too much parking provision onto a busy, congested little road/cross roads near a nursery whose young children an parents are already forced onto a narrow pavement. It is deeply offensive in its impact on Quarry Village. I understand that the plans and drawings submitted to the Council were deliberately deceptive and designed to make the development appear smaller than it is. The top storey and unit nearest the road should be demolished. The developer is clearly continuing the building work, presumably to install residents asap so that the Council would, in effect, get adverse publicity should it try to Enforce its planning reglations and do as I suggest. Neglecting to do this, however, gives the clear message to developers: Do As You Like!!!

This development is greatly at odds with the original application. It is much too high, and the sketch showing the new building in relation to existing buildings is a gross distortion of reality. In addition, the development sets a terrible precedent for the Quarry Conservation Area, in terms of quality of design and three storeys. Access to and from the site will also greatly increase danger and the potential for accidents at this already hazardous junction. Oxford City Council needs to revisit this application as a matter of urgency. Appropriate action could be the issuing of a Planning Contravention Notice or, perhaps more relevant, a Breach of Conditions Notice.

This structure is definitely not in keeping with the preservation of the Quarry and is a hideous carbuncle on the edge of the recreation ground. I sign this petition to have the whole thing removed

Hopefully it will be nice when it's finished. It does seem to match with the more modern music rooms next door, at the rear of the original music shop. I know people do hate change, but if my memory serves there was a horrible old building on the site before!? I'm no expert, but I am sure it the building has been built much taller than the plans, the council will apply the rules.

Cannot fathom why got planning permission in first place, and why this was not reviewed when obvious that original specifications were exceeded. This development is out of keeping with the Quarry area.

It is astonishing that this development was permitted. It is entirely out of keeping with the area, too tall and very ugly, as well as too dense for such a small site with practical problems for site access. It is a clear breach of the Steinberg Principle and council planners should be required to provide an explanation of their decisions.

The building is too tall and dominates the High Street. It is far too big for the space. An eyesore!

My family have been associated with Quarry for many generations and are devastated to see what has happened on the old bakery site. This hideous development is totally out of character with the surrounding properties and is obviously way too high. It is also blocking light to nearby properties. The parking area is too small which will lead to more cars being parked on Quarry High Street which is already congested. How planning permission was ever granted in the first place baffles me.

The building is entirely out of keeping with the local area. Planning requirements should be enforced or the council will give carte blanche to other similar developments.
