Why Lahaina? We produce the second most amount in sales tax after Honolulu in the entire state. What's the county going to do when that drops significantly due to a homeless camp. Place it in Kihei. There's more than enough room malka of the highway.?

This is a horrible way to start your vacation. Peter Martin does not need to donate , buy the property from him and build a 200 room shelter. No alcohol and drugs allow. A Homeless tent will be nothing else than gross.

I am strongly opposed to a Lahaina homeless camp, until I know more about if it will have an end date like is claimed.

Please do not allow until the safety and viability of the proposed site and services to be provided are more thoroughly studied. Fire danger and close proximity to two highways and a very busy road are major safety issues. Careful consideration should be given to safer, more appropriate sites.

Wow! This is not the answer! Look over their PowerPoint www.hoomoanafoundation.org It's supposed to be temporary but "initially will start with 8 camping pods and develop incrementally over years." This is NOT temporary!

Another problem that Lahaina is not ready for and doesn’t need.

I feel this would attract more homeless and cause more crime for our already homeless invaded small town. There's rumors of other islands and states offering one way tickets to Maui to clean up their streets, I hope this is a false rumor but am ashamed of those decision makers if it's true! Please be aware that Peter Martin is greedy and I'm sure he has ulterior motives that would in the long run only benifit himself! Mahalo

There's something fishy about this. Is it because they want to create infrastructure for future development- that this is their loop hole?!

This an incredibly short-sighted proposed solution that will create and encourage terrible problems. The impact to the community will be great. This type of solution has not worked in numerous cities on the mainland A better solution that will help the homeless and not impact the community requires careful consideration and appropriate decision making.
