Call for action regarding proposed homeless camp In Lahaina

The tents will need AC. Bad location little breeze and way too hot.

Tents, really bad idea, let's build s real shelter!

NO, NO, NO....proposal in its current form is 100% unacceptable. Continue building homes by the aquatic center where an already ESTABLISHED community of challenged people LIVE.

Please do something more appropriately researched and funded for our most vulnerable citizens!

this is a bad location for all involved. To hot for people, way to visable for all visitors and locals arriving and leaving the west side. It will kill Lahainas economy. No one will want to visit and stay here.

We shouldn't have to sign to not have this. It should only become possible IF THEY get signatures to create it. This is agaisnt the well being of people who live on maui and benefit its economy by being good citizens and working to make it a better place. Right now the county's priorities are not in the right order, as people who cause havock are put above those who are trying to prevent it.

people in tents is for camping on a temporay basis not for full time living. This is not the answer to our homeless problem. Build a shelter close to Lahaina town with better construction where there are services nearby.

If you build it they will come, and keep coming.

After the survey of the homeless population that showed close to 60% had been on island less than one year, I would think a homeless camp would be the last thing proposed. We will certainly see an increase in homeless folks coming to Maui with this proposed camp. The Banyon tree area is already overrun during the day with the homeless now.

I don't think this is the right location for several reasons: No walking paths, No bike paths, no library, no hospital, no stores, no pharmacy, no buses, no church, nothing is nearby. Too close to the Hwy to walk safe. Too far from the county, and state buildings. Too far from anything -will need a car. United States

As full time residents on the west side, we strongly oppose a Lahaina location for a homeless camp.

A homeless tent/shelter in this area so close to schools is totally uncalled for and should not be allowed in the proposed area..

I firmly oppose the establishing of a "camp ground"  with "tents" for the "homeless" in this proposed site on Mr. Martin's land in South Lahaina. A camp ground of tents erected in a city is a totally ridiculous and inappropriate proposal. The ambiance and commercial value of the city of Lahaina itself will be materially degraded. Everyone concerned with Lahaina and West Maui must oppose this inappropriately located and otherwise ill-conceived project. Appropriate permanent housing for the temporarily homeless is much needed, but must take the form of standard, sound, properly permitted housing structures that are to be valued by temporary inhabitants, built in scattered properly zoned, socially safe and commercially appropriate locations. Tents and a campground in a city is totally out of place and a laughable proposition no matter how laudable the need to provide housing (not tents) for the temporarily disposed is.
