Californians Against CAHA Changing 10U Hockey To Half Ice

I believe that keeping the 10U squirts at full ice is essential for their development. Transitioning to half ice may seem like a way to enhance learning, but it can limit the players' overall understanding of the game. Full ice allows them to develop crucial skills such as spacing, puck handling, and strategic play, all of which are vital as they progress in their hockey journey. Moving to half ice may reduce their exposure to these important aspects and could hinder their growth in the long run. Let's prioritize their development by maintaining the full ice format!

Do California club players need any other mechanism to be behind in development?

This will severely stunt the mental growth that is already lacking in our game

8u half ice and small nets is a good transition point to full ice.

Biggest problem players face as they get older is a lack of hockey iq. Yes, small area play is good for skills development, but playing full ice does not mean we can’t do small area games during practice, which makes up the majority of team ice time.
We already have half ice practices where it is very difficult to teach these kids neutral zone play and transition play.
We already got rid of delayed offsides. Still not sure what this is suppose to help with. I guessed it was to keep offsides simple as the kids learned the concept, but then realized that it applies from 10u to 18u.
We already got rid of the ability to ice the puck during penalty kills. What is this suppose to help with again? Puck possession?
Why are we working so hard to make sure our players never learn proper hockey until they leave the state? Is it for the average player who will play club hockey and then play men’s league? If so, then why not have different rules based on the level of hockey instead of based on age.
A really good 8u team can beat 12u B teams, yet these 8u kids will be forced to play half ice for 2 more years, many who have already played 3 years of half ice.
I really hope this isn’t a money grab disguised as an attempt to help develop players.

Nowhere else does 10u play at half ice. It would put our players at a national and international disadvantage to play half ice and would hurt our hockey programs.

We will do our best to leave CAHA if this goes through
