For my 10u player, moving up to full ice was a major accomplishment and something he was proud of. Going back down would ruin the game for him.

This is a great way to encourage our best players to LEAVE CAHA and possibly California. If this happens, I am sure many will leave and create a Hockey Association that will put the best interest of the players first.

I play across the country, and for kids a 10 year olds size, the half ice is ridiculous, in NY, 8U isn’t even half ice, it’s 3/4, so to expect AAA 10U kids, who are quick, to play on half ice is absurd. What if the ice is too tiny and they crash too much and get hurt, who’s fault? CAHA, don’t do half ice, trust me.

Let’s work on finding a more appropriate size net for 9/10 year old goalies before we drop down to half ice games. Without a change in net size, a half sheet of ice, the game will slow way down and not in a good way. Too much time will be spent fishing the puck out of the net and could negatively affect player performance and enthusiasm for the game.

Could see an argument about jamboree format that comes with 1/2 ice making travel more efficient and removing some burden on families, but I don't think any benefit from that is worth putting off learning the full ice game & rules another 2 years.

Nowhere else does 10u play at half ice. It would put our players at a national and international disadvantage to play half ice and would hurt our hockey programs.

What an absolute joke. This will be such a disservice for 9 and 10 year olds. My sons team won states last year for 10AA of full size ice.

Please allow full ice, give the player better skills and endurance
