Lafarge has officially confirmed they will stop burning tires at their facility. My kids can finally play outside without that heavy chemical smell hanging in the air. Thank you for staying with me through this fight.
I have been spending my evenings reading your personal stories about the smoke and the health issues it causes for our families. It confirms what I already know because watching my own neighbor struggle to breathe in her garden is why I started this. We are pushing hard to ensure the air in our community stays clean.

Seeing this momentum grow brings me back to the nights I spent worrying about the air my own children breathe. Your support proves that this community refuses to let our health be traded away for someone else's profit.

What really cheeses me off are all those environmental fees I have paid on tires for the last number of years and here we are up a smokestack and in our waters and lungs quite a scheme when you think of it

Wow, I've never seen such blatant disregard for the health and welfare of Nova Scotians, all in the name of greed!! A similar proposal was rejected in Ontario. Shame on all you responsible NS politicians who signed off on this lethal proposal. It's mind boggling that you appear to think that you and you're families are somehow immune from the scientifically proven health risks.
In certain parts of Europe that adopt this tire burning practice, they have ultra modern Kilns that are specifically made for handling this kind of thing SAFELY....not 80yr old cement kilns like Lafarge's. NS politicians...do right by you're constituents and stop this dangerous proposal in it's tracks immediately.

Yet another form of cancerous pollution approved by the NS zombie politicians! Shame on you for having such total disregard for the health and well being of the general public. Your greed knows no bounds!

Let's not regress. Burning has chemical ramifications (for our health as well as for the environment), no matter how much a company may reassure us. Recycling is the way to go and creates business and products.
i do NOT want my tire enviro- recycling fees going toward the burning of tires.
It's time for the McNeil government to stand up for the environment!

To think that the government has approved the use of the enviro fee we pay in order to have tires recycled, to fund this is ludicrous..the toxins produced will be horrible for the environment!

I will not stand by and do nothing about this issue. It is an extremely unhealthy, and dangerous decision made by our government. We need to move forward environmentally, and use clean sources of energy in our province. This choice is going to poison us. We need to have this changed as soon as possible. I for one will do whatever it takes.
