Cabarrus County Citizens AGAINST NC House Bill 463 Proposed by Rep. Larry Pittman

I do not support H463 and ask that it be removed from consideration by the NC House. Please vote NO.

I don't support this bill and feel like it will divide the County.

We personally sent Rep. Pittman an email on April 11, 2015, expressing these same sentiments. To date we have had no response from him.

I oppose the expansion of our commission in any number and I also oppose the districting of the commissioners.

I do not support this bill at all and concur with the statement on the petition.

We as the community need to be heard on this. Do our thoughts not matter????

This bill will split our County and is no use to the residents .

We have GOT to get past this ridiculous split party crap! Larry Pittman and his minions need to grow up.....quit fighting against our Republican party.....or else the liberals will take office again in 2016 and finish ruining this wonderful country we live in!!

I oppose this bill. In my humble opinion, HB 463 will result in gridlock and a strangle-hold on the county board of commissioners by special interest groups. The process by which the bill was introduced was less than perfect. At the 13 March meeting with the commissioners and our legislators, the commissioners asked for time to do due diligence on the bill. Representative Pittman replied, “It sounds like to me we have a consensus to wait at least until next year to do this. So, I just won’t even file the bill this year, and if we can get public input that’s what we need to do.” For some inexplicable reason, Representative Pittman introduced HB 463 only 18 days later with no support from his fellow legislators and no possibility of effective input from the commissioners and the public. The district concept may well lead to territorial issues that will have a negative impact on the way decisions are made. Instead of looking at the big picture and making decisions which benefit the county as a whole, commissioners may bend to the will of their parochial, district constituencies. Our current U.S. Congress is an example of how representatives beholden to a specific geographic area and group of voters refuse to act on legislation that will benefit the nation as a whole. Commissioners represent the whole county and should be elected by all the voters. Supporters of this bill are probably still reeling from the fact that their candidates were voted out of office by all the voters in November. Increasing the number of commissioners from five to seven may well be a positive approach in which to expand coverage across the county, but the district proposal is not the way to get there.

I fully support this bill.

This is a bad Bill, likely instigated out of spite and with an agenda as his followers (Pittman's) were defeated at the last Commissioner election and were also removed from the County Party Executive Committee.

Larry Pittman does not represent the entire Cabarrus County community and this bill is one example of that. Please withdraw the bill.
