I understand that the Butler Homeless Initiative (BHI) is privately operated and not funded by tax dollars, and has been in operation for four years. I understand that this transitional housing is meant to end homelessness rather than generate or enable homelessness. I understand too, that BHI is recognized as a nonprofit, charitable 501(c)(3) corporation in the State of Kansas, and is a partner in the Kansas State Continuum of Care, an arm of the National Homeless Coalition, and that BHI is a member of the Kansas Homeless Coalition.
