Due to Biggs Unified Teachers Associations’ (BUTA) unwillingness to meet with parents and the facts below, I willing sign this petition stating that: Until BUTA agrees to comply with our demands, I have no confidence in their ability to provide children with a positive, quality education.
• Biggs Unified Teachers Association is intentionally losing our classrooms and our school district well over $100,000 by not participating in the MAA program.
• Since 2000 Biggs High School’s API has increased by only 24 points.
• In the last 10 years Biggs Elementary School has only had an 8 point increase in its API.
• In the last 10 years Biggs Middle School has only had a 35 point increase in its API.
• Biggs Middle School has the lowest API in all of Butte County middle schools. BMS is 83 points below the next lowest middle school and 221 below the highest middle school in Butte County.
• Biggs High School has the lowest API in all of Butte County high schools. BHS is 39 points below the next lowest high school and 174 points below the highest high school in Butte County.
• Biggs Elementary ranks 37 out of 41 Butte County Elementary schools and is 183 points below the highest elementary school in Butte County.
• Biggs Unified School District currently has 95 students out on Inter-District Transfers and a loss of enrollment of over 300 students in the past 8 years.
PARENTS’ DEMANDS FOR BUTA
1. BUTA to cease their boycott of participation in the MAA program that is causing our district to lose over $100,000 this year.
2. 100% participation by teachers in the Parent Connect program.
3. Approve built-in collaboration/staff training time during their contracted hours on a minimum of a twice a month basis.
4. 100% of teachers will teach a standards based curriculum and perform standards based assessments for every subject they teach beginning in the 2012-2013 school year.
5. Cease arriving late to school and leaving early on a daily basis...work according to contract hours.
The sheer volume of parents hitting their breaking point proves that the Biggs Unified Teachers Association can no longer hide behind their excuses. Their failure to value our children over their own obstructionist agenda is finally being exposed for everyone to see.
