I never thought I'd agree with David Morris! However, I often use the 81 bus service in the evenings. Alternative modes of transport are much less safe, cheap and environmentally-friendly. Cutting this bus service and others will limit job opportunities and hours, and prevent people from going into Lancaster to spend money. This will not only affect people's lives directly, but also indirectly by worsening our local economy.

I'm sure the benefits especially for the elderly who don't drive, far outweigh the cutting of this service.

I live in Halton. I don't drive, taxis are too expensive and it is too far to walk to Lancaster. Cutting the bus service would greatly restrict freedom of movement for people who don't drive, particularly the young and elderly.

Its the easy option for private bus companies to withdraw services to rural areas and naming subsidies as the downfall. They must take the rough with the smooth. LCC should be more ruthless with these companies.

People of Carnforth need these presently subsidised bus services, we will become isolated without them and people use the bus to travel to work, no bus,no job.

Shouldn't the County Council be encouraging bus useage rather than removing it! It feels like another move to isolate rural inhabitants. Many people reply on this service to independently access social situations, cultural activities and working placements - which are unavailable within their communities. Why not try cheaper fares and smaller buses.

These bus services are needed by many in the rural areas. Cutting bus services will lead to a combination of rural isolation and increased car use. Does anyone else notice the irony of a Conservative MP working to reverse county council cuts that are a result of cuts to council funding put in place by the Conservative government?

We are regularly being urged to leave our cars at home and use bus services.
How does a cut to the bus service to & from Halton village help us to do this?
