!!!! LIFT THE BAN ON BUJU !!!!
International reggae superstar Buju Banton has been unjustly banned from the United States because of an absurd conviction in April for possession and cultivation of marijuana. On December 3, 2003 the police, without reason, barged into his Kingston recording studio and claimed they found a marijuana plant belonging to Buju, even though the artist had only been home for 2 days after 18 long months of continuous touring!
On March 29th Buju was found guilty and on April 5th he was fined $9000 or 60 days of imprisonment. Only when Buju tried to return to the States in April did he learn he was forbidden entry; he was detained for 18 hours in Miami and subsequently deported back to Jamaica.
Buju is now appealing the case, and an international movement of solidarity is growing. People in places all over the world, including Jamaica, Miami, New York, London are working to call attention to these unjust charges!
Please sign this petition to show your support and help lift the ban on Buju Banton so that he can spread his message of positivity throughout the world!!!
We have reached one hundred signatures. I am currently finalizing a formal letter to immigration officials to request a formal review of the entry ban status.

The volume of support gathered here confirms the need for formal action. I am currently reaching out to legal representatives in Miami to coordinate the delivery of these signatures to immigration authorities.

We are approaching the one hundred signature threshold which serves as our benchmark for the formal inquiry letter to the Miami field office. Please direct your contacts to the campaign page now to ensure we hit this target before I file the request.

Total injustice. He should be out here performing for his fans not stuck in jamaica because of a trumped up charge.
