The York Region Catholic school board is opening a brand new arts school. The Toronto District School Board has opened many arts schools, sports schools, and IB programmes with more planned. We DO NOT ACCEPT that our children deserve less choice than children in the Catholic school board. We DO NOT ACCEPT that our children deserve less than children in Toronto. STOP Policy #316. We want MORE opportunities for our children's education, not less!

I spent the entire afternoon reading through the new policy drafts and honestly it feels like they are just trying to slam the door shut on any creative futures for our kids while everyone is distracted. It is frustrating to see other boards moving forward with arts and sports programs while we are stuck fighting to keep the bare minimum on the table. I am drafting a formal response to the board trustee by trustee because silence is just not an option when our children's paths are being limited like this.

Fix the policy. keep the specialty schools.
We need more choice not less. This is ridiculous.
Totally unfair. York region kids should have the exact same opportunities as kids in Toronto. Stop holding them back!
Don't let this policy pass. Every student learns different and these schools are vital for those who need a creative outlet or a challenge.
my daughter thrives in her arts program. why would they even consider taking this away from future students? keep these options open.

Why is the catholic board allowed to have these programs but public schools are being punished? Makes no sense at all.
