Petition for a Traffic Light at the intersection of Billy Howey Rd. & New Town Rd in Union County, NC

Ive seen 3 accidents there recently

I have witnessed many accidents here. It needs a traffic light.

Billy Howey from New Town south speed limit needs to be reduced to 45. I live on Billy Howey and it's like a drag strip out here.

My Wife has been hit here before and I have almost been hit almost weekly.

please get us a light before someone gets killed

I hate driving through this intersection, it's so dangerous!

Jeffrey, can we also ask DOT to reduce the speed limit on New Town road to 35MPH approaching Billy Howey from both directions (1/2 mile or more each way) - this will reduce accidents on the turn just past Billy Howey and before you reach Chambwood when traveling East on New Town.

Can we also reduce the speed limit on new town road approaching Billy Howey from both directions to 35MPH, there have also been accidents with cars running into the trees on that sharp corner, which is where I live in Twelve Oaks.

Also, the tall / wide "real estate" signs are a huge problem!!! They severely block the line of vision for the drivers traveling on Billy Howey into the intersection from Mineral Spring. Union Co. has jursidiction over that corner, (not Wesley Chapel or Waxhaw). I have been told that the signs do pass the county's signage code for "distance from roadway" BUT this intersection does not have 90 degree angles, which makes it VERY dangerous and difficult to see drivers coming westbound on Newtown road into the intersection. At night, those tall signs also block the headlights of oncoming traffic.

we live near the intersection of Newtown and Potter Rd. I agree there needs to be a light there and more done in this area to slow the traffic… I will be Road and Potter is another very bad area. I call the sheriffs department quite often do to my daughters school bus being passed!! There is too much growth in this area and not enough focus on making the roads safer for the number of drivers now on these roads
