We, the undersigned, call on Richard Graham MP, Gloucester City and County Councils and Gloucester City FC to engage in plans to build a new stadium for the club in the Railway Triangle.
It is obvious that the current plans for the new stadium are flawed, in that Gloucester City wish to return to Meadow Park which was badly flooded in 2007 and is still categorised as a flood-risk zone despite new defences being put in.
The current available, dilapidated land at the Railway Triangle makes for a far better potential site: it is not at risk of flooding, and new developments such as a Morrison's Supermarket are already earmarked for the land. A football stadium with a 15,000 capacity plus parking spaces etc. can easily be built here with an adjoining Parkway Station built on the outer loops so as to allow through services to pass by without stopping. Access roads from Metz Way can also be put in as well.
The club has wasted £250k on the current scheme which is going nowhere whilst people drag their feet. A new stadium at the Railway Triangle is the only sensible solution to bringing Gloucester City FC back home to Gloucester.
