Buhari and Atiku to Debate on Restructuring of Nigerian federal system.
A major discourse leading to the 2019 general election in Nigeria is the restructuring of the federal system of government in the country. Major political party candidates are making promises to deliver on this. Among these candidates are President Mohammad Buhari who is seeking re-election on the platform of the ruling All progressive Congress (APC) and a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar who is contesting on the platform of the main opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
There have been wide views and perspectives given to the subject which account for the misconception among the voting populace. More so, there is doubt in the public arena that the candidates will deliver on their promise to restructure the system.
What needs to be done is for the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) to organize a debate where the two leading (and other) presidential candidates shall interact with voters on what they mean by restructuring of the country's federation, what they intend to achieve and how they will go about achieving it.
To Be Achieved
With the organizing of this debate;
- Nigerians will have first hand interaction with the candidate.
- It will help in stream lining the many perspectives giving to the subject. Voters will be able to know and settle for which perspectives to the subject that they desire for the country.
- Also, it will avail an opportunity for voters to state if the want restructuring or not.
