Have you ever been stuck at party with no ride late at night? Too scared to walk home by yourself in the streets of Boston? We have the solution. 9 After 9 is a program that safely gets students home late at night. In the city of Boston, one of the most college-concentrated cities in the US, people rely heavily on public transportation. To go to work, school, or to a party, people will utilize the MBTA for its buses and trains. This transportation, however, ends at 12:50 AM. This leaves many people stranded at their destination late at night at a party. Students then could take a cab, but fares can be expensive, especially for a college student’s budget. A cab from downtown Boston to BU Central can cost upwards to $20 dollars. A student then may consider walking home in the dark, which is dangerous for anybody late at night, considering the recent outbreaks of robbery on the BU campus. The BU bus, another form of transportation that students rely on, has a late night schedule, but is unreliable. Students can find themselves waiting up to an hour at a bus stop in the dark. If you end up at a party with alcohol, drunk driving also poses a serious danger. Many students have their cars on campus, and if they drive to a party and drink, a student may unknowingly enter a car with a drunk driver. Students need a safe way to get home safely, efficiently, and at a reasonable price.

9 After 9 is a transportation program that will get students home at night. The program will run from Thursday to Saturday, the days when most college students go out and party. The hours of operation will be from 9PM to 4AM. Students can call the taxi company, have a taxi pick them up, and drive them home for a flat rate of $9 dollars. If a group of students utilizes this, it can split the fare. 4 students could each pay $2.50 dollars. The cab also would have a device so that student could use their BU cards to charge their convenience points to pay for the ride, instead of using cash if they don’t have any on them. The cab would cover the area wherever the company normally operates.
