There are so many thing I want to say, but first as I approached the "event" on Saturday the first person I talked to was an old friend holding his sleeping child. The child was sound asleep after a fun night with his family listening to music. That was the atmosphere. Secondly I question the discriminatory attitudes that certain members of the campground receive. This has happened every time a group comes together like a family. Management sees determined to interrupt and " disband" groups that want to have other members on their sites. This is a family oriented campground, but aparentely we are not supposed to act like family. Most gatherings are like a family BBQ, except there is no fighting. Is that not what we are supposed to do. Many other members break all kinds if rules including the continued construction, with drill and nail guns starting at 7 or 8 am most of the summer. Why is it OK to break these rules.. Third the most inappropriate behavior came from the staff and management, who were interrupting the gathering long before curfew, which in the year 2021 needs to be midnight. High School curfews have been midnight since I was that young. Not only was profanity used by management, but their approach seemed as though it was meant to provoke fighting, which no BTL members gave into. Ther was also the stomping on the gas pedal of one if their golf carts while someone's hand was on the cart talking to staff. Dangerous and wreckless behavior from the BTL management. Lastly we should have an association with a say in what goes on activity wise, since we have nothing geared towards adult or teen entertainment. We could move events to the front of campground for any noisy events, if only staff and members were allowed to work together. I am so disappointed that the most juvenile behavior came from the BTL staff having a temper tantrum.

I have read the petition and agree wholeheartedly with the statements made in the complaint as well as the comments. I was present and sitting in front of where the musicians were playing on Saturday evening when Paul aggressively pulled onto the street almost hitting a child and charged up to the deck and told the musician to "shut it the F down". The way he spoke to them and several other people present who are all paying guests mind you was absolutely uncalled for and unprofessional as well as completely unnecessary as there were no rules being broken. I would like to say I was surprised by the incident but have myself witnessed such behavior by more then one person in the "management" department of the BTL staff. As a paying customer I expect to be treated with respect or at the very least politely if in fact there was something wrong which on this night was not the case at all. I would however find it surprising if Sun RV condoned this poor excuse for management and allowed it to continue further and in such a public manner. We have come together as a group in such a way because the continued display of aggression and hostility to the customers here at BTL especially on this night went way too far and has gone on for far too long and no one in "management" seems to have the least bit of concern or care for its customers if they repeatedly allow it to happen. I really hope that this petition lands on the corporate desk of someone that is willing to listen to what the customers are saying here and has the resolve to do something significant about it particularly when it involves a lot of families and friends in the BTL community and their children who were put through such a horrendous ordeal. I would also like to thank the host for going above and beyond to bring such a simple yet enjoyable evening to all of the people at BTL at his own expense since the management here "does not think we deserve it".

Hi , I have the site right behind Chris I love and enjoy the entertainment that he brings to the campground it’s a great time but on September 4 while enjoying the music and mingling with friends, Paul the Maintenance manager pulled up about 10:15 ish and told the band they had to shut it down while using foul language. Stating “we don’t deserve entertainment” Also to top it off there were children present while he was going on his rave. I love it at BTL I consider my friends my family. The way Paul acted that night was very unprofessional and it’s not the first time I seen him do this!!! Enough’s is enough!!!! Some type of action has it take place.

First off I would like to thank Chris for putting on such an amazing night! This is something that BTL should be doing for the aldults at the campground.Everything was so nice the way he (Chris) set everything up the music the musicians it was just wonderful to go out and have a nice night and meet people that I’ve never even met before and we’ve been there for four years.!Watching everyone laughing and having a great time young and old. Until management (Paul) rushed in at 10:20 saying he had complaints and we had to break everything up . We asked why and he just got mad and then he (Paul) marched right up to the musicians and was cursing at them. I don’t understand how such an amazing beautiful night can turn into somethings so awful. He (Paul) had no respect To the young and the old anyone that was around him. We did not deserve this kind of treatment from management we did not deserve to be harassed and bullied.

The fact that there has been such an outpouring of support and showings to Chris’ events should be clear to the campground they need to host more family events such as live music. There is a pavilion and areas for outdoor events; however, little adult entertainment has taken place by the campground staff. The campground hosted a dj only a few times throughout the season which was enjoyable. Visitors clearly enjoyed the events Chris was hosting. It was an event where families could meet each other and enjoy time together. Additionally, the actions of the staff member who sped up to the event and was yelling profanities with families present was unprofessional and out of line.

My extended family and I were in attendance for this event. Paul sped up to the site so fast that he almost hit a young little girl with his golf cart. My family member had to pull her out of the way because he was not prepared to stop. Those that organized this event were doing so because of the lack of activities that are put in place for families of all ages, not just little children. These people are putting out their own money to make sure EVERYONE has a great time and instead of thanking them for their hard time and work, management is treating us like garbage. As a seasonal, and for the amount of money that we pay, we should not have to rely on other people to put forth more money for entertainment nor should we be harassed and belittled for doing so.

I personally never had a bad experience with Paul. But the stories I've heard has made me walk on egg shells around him. My family was there enjoying with everyone else. I finally saw what everyone talked about. Paul was way out of line. I honestly was embarrassed by the way he portrayed himself that night. As stated in other comments "this is the straw that broke the camels back" and this the "tip of the iceberg" of things wrong with BTL. I think Sun needs to reevaluate their Mission Statement because this "Resort" doesn't reflect it.

My family and I are new seasonals to BTLC. We are lucky to have a neighbor like Chris to host respectful family gatherings such as the one on September 4, 2021. It has helped my husband, myself, and my two young boys to get to meet others at the campground which has been a huge part of the reason we chose to become seasonals at the campground. My boys have anxiety and being able to meet kind people and enjoy socializing with others is what they need. My youngest was present that evening and the actions taken by a staff member of the campground did scare him. Chris was ensuring campground rules were being followed, safety measures were in place, and everyone was enjoying themselves. It is a shame that some people, especially a staff member, would take such measures to ensure members and visitors would NOT be enjoying what I thought was what campground memories are made of.

This is not the first time this has happened. Paul and staff think they’re higher then everyone that is a seasonal and a transient, including law enforcement. All of them need to be removed from the camp ground and a new staff needs to be put in place based off the fact that it has now become a biased and threatening environment for ANYONE that stays at Big Timber Lake Campground. It will be very hard for me and any of my family to EVER stay at this horribly ran establishment aka “corporation.” Over the years it has gotten worse and worse and if they don’t change then we will take our family vacations elsewhere.

It was wrong how Paul handled himself. The profanity used in front of young children. Not to mention the threats. They way Paul came charging up to the site scared the crap out of me. Everyone was having a great time talking ,dancing and making new friends. Hope the issues gets taken of ASAP.

I was attending the festivities on Sept 4th with family, friends and two young children! Everyone was having a great time and the music was awesome and Chris the host was making sure everyone felt welcome from seasonals, transients and guests! I was standing in front of the musicians holding my niece when what I witnessed from Paul was completely unprofessional and unprovoked! The language that was used toward the host and the musicians was abysmal and clearly upset many, including young children! This disrespectful approach brought a jovial event to an abrupt somber end! As a seasonal this is not the environment we pay our hard earned money for, especially with young children having to witness this!

First, thanks to Chris for hosting the entire campground in an event eveyone felt welcomed and more importantly a part of. Second, I have read this petition and will make the following statements. BTL and Sun need to use this as a case example that they are fortunate to have a community that wants to be involved while being respectful to everyone. It’s a community that is open to suggestions nd opportunity. I will confirm that I did witness the interaction between BTL staff and the participants and unfortunately it was not handled in a professional manner that had safety of customer service in mind. I believe that this was personal in nature and extremely disruptive. In a professional setting training will guide you down the path of defusing a situation from escalating not increasing its potential. Simply stated this incident was not handled correctly by BTL. In the future I would like the see a procedure on how to get approval for larger gatherings that will be mutually beneficial. If you did a root cause analysis I’m confident that it would show that only having Bingo on a holiday weekend evening as entertainment would direct the community to do something on their own. In the end what happened was not appropriate and as a 15 year seasonal I would expect a more professional approach that was in line with the corporate values of Sun RV. According to Suns “About Us” “ we pride ourselves in our commitment to our residents and guest, bringing them outstanding amenities, value and customer service consistent with the Sun Communities experience.” I have to sign this petition to show my support because this incident is the exact opposite of what the companies mission is.

I was a guest in the campground (previously seasonal for 12 years) on Saturday attending a birthday party. I later attended the gathering mentioned above. The music was lovely. It was easy to have conversations with friends unlike the music at a bar or wedding where you need to shout to converse. The gathering was peaceful. Everyone was having a good time. Then Paul Pearson showed up racing up behind the golf cart of the person I was speaking to. He began shouting obscenities that she must move her golf cart. (There is a way to speak to people). She asked him to wait a minute and sent her granddaughter to get the key from her daughter. He angrily got off his cart and stormed over to the site. We were in shock. My friends young granddaughter witnessed his behavior and offensive language as well. The organizer of this event is such a nice person. He wanted nothing more than to see everyone have a nice evening. This music was suitable for any age. No rap or offensive language. This isn't the first time I witnessed the aggressive behavior of your staff member. Furthermore I hope no action is taken against anyone who signed this petition. When I contacted corporate about an issue Maria threatened not to renew my site contract.

I was in attendance of the gathering with my wife and two young children (3 and 5) and witnessed the events that transpired as documented in the petition and furthermore in the comments below. While there is no doubt the conduct and actions displayed on that evening were egregious, inappropriate, and should require discipline, I see this as a glaring representation of the ongoing, overarching managerial deficiency by both Sun Communities and Big Timber Lake. This event represents a culmination of neglected grievances and poor treatment of the campground community by management of this facility. The actions of staff on 9/4/2021 are the proverbial “Straw that broke the camels back”. Management of this facility from a client satisfaction standpoint has been on steep decline since we signed on as seasonal over 3 years ago and longer tenured seasonals seem to echo this sentiment as well. We love this campground because of the community and friendships we built, however the overall experience begins to sour as management and customer service continue to deteriorate. Hopefully this can act as a wake-up call to the Sun RV Corporate team, that significant actions must be taken to remedy these deficiencies. I cannot imagine this would be the customer feedback that a large publicly traded corporation would like to see plastered on social media and review agencies, should this continue.

I have been at Chris’s site, I believe, all three times he had the music there. Each time was better than the other. No inappropriate behavior, no inappropriate music, nothing that would warrant this not being able to continue. I did witness the fiasco on Saturday night, and to be honest, it doesn’t even surprise me anymore. This isnt the first time a member of the staff was out of control and acted inappropriately and I’m sure, without Sun RV’s upper management at their corporate headquarters getting involved, this will continue. I can personally say that since I’ve been a seasonal at BTL , I’ve made long lasting friendships and in the three times I was at Chris’s site for the music I met at least 25 people that right now I would at least call acquaintances that I wouldn’t of had the opportunity to meet otherwise. To say the adult activities are minimal would be an exaggeration. And the fact that whether Chris or other people take it upon themselves to try to entertain people at their own expense without breaking what we think are the written or supposed unwritten rules of BTL, should be applauded. And I’m pretty sure that this petition is only going to get half the comments because people are afraid of retribution. Fees continue to go up and amenities continue to get taken away with no answers. For example, the trash truck is broken. OK, when is it being fixed? Gypsy gypsy moth problem. We weren’t able to get on the list to be sprayed in time. Are you on the list now to be sprayed for next season? Or is it going to affect more than just myself monetarily when they have to repair their sites from the month-long damage that took place? The zip lines broken. OK, why wasn’t it fixed? I believe next season will be my six season at BTL. In my years here I have seen the management and maintenance of this place go downhill each season. I believe there is a lack of respect towards the seasonal people and I also believe that there has to be a major attitude adjustment

Saturday was an unfortunate reminder of the environment of harassment and lack of professionalism by staff that has become both tolerated and accepted despite concerns vocalized over time to management. Unfortunately, this is not the first time my kids have been exposed to Paul’s poor behavior first hand. Last year, there was a situation where he pulled up at an excessive rate of speed in his personal vehicle, coming within feet of both myself and young daughter. He jumped out of his truck yelling and dropping “f” bombs like he was at a bar. It was extremely unprofessional, uncomfortable and unnecessary. The sad part, we were just in the area and became victims of his uncontrollable behavior. I didn’t say anything. Why? Because it is not uncommon for people to share concerns and become targets by those who the complaint was about. I actually hesitated to sign this petition and comment out of fear of retribution. I’m still concerned about it, honestly, but can’t stand by and allow this to happen time and time again to our collective BTL family. The music on Saturday was not excessively loud, it was playing prior to quiet time and MANY families were present enjoying the holiday and the company of the surrounding community. If it needed to be turned down, it could have been handled very simply with an ask — but it wasn’t. Even after the music was shut down (which was before 11), I witnessed Paul show up to the hosts site as he was cleaning up, go up on his porch and get in his face, to continue harassing him about the situation. Mind you, the music was off, people had left and he still felt compelled to exercise aggressive behavior. The host maintained a calm attitude despite what appeared to be an invasion of his personal space and Paul’s hostile disposition. Even after going back to our site to talk quietly amongst friends and relax, Paul sat across the way just watching — as if he was waiting for us to do something wrong. Our family has invested in our site
