What can I say that has not been said. Any quality business that cares for its customers will tell you that employees are and should be a reflection of corporate standards and principles. With that being said here are some facts:
Activities have decreased greatly. We pay a lot of money as seasonals we should not have to volunteer our time to make this campground a success.
Services have declined greatly no recycle pick up not trash pick up.
Products not being available in the store.
Many times staff is not courteous to campers there are a few exceptions.
The reason we began camping here is the high standards management as well as corporate had for its staff as well as its campers. These facts provided are we have caused the problems and has forced campers to begin to provide their own activities! So I go back to my first statement, “ employees are reflection of corporate and management standards” , If Sun had any business sense they would pay a visit to BTL and monitor the management staff to see the level not for one day for multiple to see if this campground is up to the standards of their many other properties I think they would be grossly disappointed!

I don’t understand why Paul reacted the way he did. It was a pleasant evening until he came in there screaming and berating people.

So after reading everyone’s comments it’s obvious that things could have and should have been handled better……. We do not feel the need to say what’s already been said So instead what about a few questions?
If quiet time is 11 o’clock why were the people who called to complain not told that the Campground policy is quiet time is at 11 o’clock and at 11 o’clock it will be quiet sorry for the inconvenience but those are the rules
If there are rules regarding sound levels…..where are they?
Why was it simply not asked to turn down the music for the next 45 minutes?
what was the difference between a loud radio and live music? We have never heard of anybody with loud radios being told to shut it down???? Even after 11?
Why does it seem that transients are able to get away with breaking the rules but the seasonals seem to be held to a different standard?
Why was the maintenance manager called instead of the campground manager?
If there is a security guard who was hired to enforce the campground rules after management has closed why did that security guard not come by and shut it down?
Last but not least…,,, why is there not an avenue to accommodate a situation to try and satisfy everyone like allowing the pavilion to be used?
On a day like today it’s very important to remember that we are all Americans we are all neighbors and we are a community and no one is here to hurt anyone or to annoy anyone….. it’s been a rough couple of years for everyone in various ways from the pandemic to personal heartache and it’s very nice to be able to come together and share some good times and laughs!
God bless America!

For whatever reason the BTL staff seems to have contempt for the seasonal campers. The way that Paul and the security guard acted that night was completely abysmal.

I think it’s great Chris has been providing a free way for the BTL community to connect. I’ve met and talked to people at his gatherings that I hadn’t met in my 4 prior years at BTL. I love that all are invited and even the kids have a blast too at his gatherings. He always makes sure things wrap up by quiet time to be respectful to neighbors. It sucks that something so positive is met with such resistance from the management.

First, I want to say that everyone has shown so much courage to sign and comment on this petition. I understand that most people fear retaliation from management, and I am proud of everyone for taking a stand against the unprofessional behavior that has been the norm lately. I have had fellow seasonal campers tell me that they agree with everything written in the petition and that more people would sign but they have not out of fear of being “kicked out of the campground.” That in itself speaks volumes. I was saddened by the way Paul has handled himself over the last two/ three years. His behavior has become more unprofessional and has been extreme this season. I have watched him target the families on Hickory Street with a personal vendetta and I truly cannot wrap my head around it. Every family on that street has a welcoming and friendly personality and they take care of anyone in need. I have spoken to Paul on multiple occasions looking for an answer. I was even warned to “stay away or I could be on the list to be thrown out next.”
I witnessed the events that occurred on September 4, 2021. Paul was unsafely driving the golf cart (with his wife in the passenger seat) through the street like a maniac while yelling in the same manner that he was driving. There were small children and adults on the street, and someone could have been hurt. I saw Chris calmly walk up to Paul and ask him what the problem was. I then saw/ heard Paul screaming in Chris’s face that he had noise complaints (it was 10:15pm). Chris asked who made the complaints and Paul flung his arms around pointing in the direction of the office. Chris then said that he was just trying to provide some entertainment and Paul responded with, “These people don’t deserve entertainment.” He then got out of his golf cart and began yelling at the acoustic musicians to, “shut it the f**k down.” At this point I turned my back to the situation so that I could apologize to the guests I had visiting with me that ni

I feel that many other issues have occurred prior to Saturday, September 4th, these issues have been overlooked for far to long. This petition is the result of both seasonals and transients coming together because the disrespect was both witnessed and felt by all of us on this particular night. Individual complaints and concerns are often brushed to the side with little acknowledgment and zero resolution. We pay a lot of money to be here and many services and amenities have been greatly reduced and taken away, things that cannot be taken away include our sense of community and our dignity. We understand that there is a waiting list and for every seasonal that leaves, there is a new seasonal to replace the spot. Unfortunately, this seems to be what Sun banks on and doesn’t care if we stay or go. This petition proves how unhappy seasonals, perspective seasonals, as well as guests and transients are. This should cause Sun to question their comfortability and security in this area.
I have never had an issue with Paul individually, I have heard stories but I have not witnessed the abrasive and demeaning behavior prior to the aforementioned night.
I cannot help but question(and without excusing the behavior) why would a staff member treat anyone or all of us in this manner?! An employee should take responsibility for their actions but this only occurs with accountability from the top. We have all seen how BTL is deteriorating and the work is left to a tired and depleted staff. Perhaps if BTL was managed more efficiently from the corporate office the staff would conduct themselves in a professional manner. When there are no guidelines from upper management there cannot be a standard to uphold.
With all of this said, my family wholeheartedly appreciates the hospitality in which Chris bestowed upon ALL of us. The band was wonderful, the music was enjoyed by all ages and many of us met for the first time but it felt as though we had known one another for a lifetime. Forev

In the evening of September 4th, I was in attendance at Chris’s site for an evening of entertainment with great friends and family. The event was open for everyone in the campground to attend, whether you were a seasonal guest or transient visiting for the weekend. During these gatherings, there has never been any arguments/fighting between the people in attendance. Everyone is there for the enjoyment of the music and to be able to mingle with friends/family. The event that was being enjoyed by the attendees was interrupted when a staff member (Paul) came flying into the camp site and approached the host and guests in a hostile behavior and using an insane amount of profanity in no regard to the young children present. The behavior that was exemplified by staff was unnecessary and had showed no respect to any of the seasonal and transient guests. Sun RV should be embarrassed by his behavior since it reflects back on how paying customers are being treated here at Big Timber Lake Campground. These events are always friendly and open to everyone to enjoy. If there was more adult activities available at the campground individual sites would not have to provide their own entertainment.

On September 4th, Chris was providing entertainment on his site for anyone to attend, whether you were a seasonal or a transient guest. The musicians play a variety of music with only a piano/guitar. The music is always tasteful during this family/friends gathering that include young children being present. It was obvious everyone in attendance was having a great time with old friends and even getting to make new friends. These gatherings have brought many seasonal guests we have never meant out and now have become acquainted with due to Chris’s hospitality on his site. The event was being enjoyed by all that was in attendance until staff (Paul) speed up and came onto the site in a very unprofessional manner. As a staff member that is supposed to be representing a large corporation controlled by Sun RV, such as Big Timber Lake campground you would think that staff would present themselves in a manner that reflects professionalism and would show your paying seasonal/transients guests respect, which on this night did not occur with no respect to the guests and the young children in attendance. The aggressive behavior and profanity that was being used towards the host/guests appeared to being scaring some of the children present due to his hostile demeanor. The behavior was not warranted considering that the guideline of the campgrounds “Quiet Time” was never violated during this gathering. My site is only 2 spots down from the hosts and even when I had returned to my campsite while the musicians were playing the music and the guests that were present could not be heard from my site. It is absurd how an evening of relaxation and enjoyment turned into an outrage and not by any guests that were in attendance but due to the negligence of inappropriate staff behavior/management.

I was not only a paying guest but also one of the musicians playing this night to help entertain the people of the campground. The guy Paul who pretty much ran up on me and yelled “shut it the f*ck down” was no question unprofessional and out of line. I was so confused at this point…. The people every time come up, thank us and tell me how much they enjoyed the music. We never had an issue the other 3 times we played so I was caught off guard and did not appreciate how I was treated as a paying guest of the big timber resort .

Over the Labor Day weekend I had the opportunity to stay at big Timberlake at one of the cabins. I enjoyed trying shuffleboard, miniature golf, Although the greens are in much need of serious replacement, the lake beach and the general camaraderie of people staying in your RV park. However on Saturday night while enjoying music and conversation the facilities maintenance manager intruded on the festivities by making rude comments to various people. He spoke to many of us as if we were underage college students at an illicit party. He behaved as a bully flexing his muscles with an attitude Unbecoming and unprofessional to the position he holds at your park. Never at any point in time did we need to be policed. I am very disappointed at how your manager destroyed a perfectly fun evening on a holiday weekend. I seriously doubt that I would be interested in visiting your facility again, especially if this Individual is allowed to behave this way with no repercussions.

I have read all the comments and it is clear this event is not an isolated incident. There are only so many times we can be disrespected before patience runs dry. It appears we’ve all experienced some level of discourteous behavior or worse from either the subject manager or by others who currently hold positions in management.
Aside from this incident on Sep 4th, it is clear, concerns have not been heard and addressed in the past, no matter how many times and in the various ways of communication we’ve approached management.
We yet again, continue to voice our concerns respectfully, by pulling together this petition, so there is no mistake, misunderstanding, or miscommunication of where we stand when this is presented. I would ask Sun Communities and Big Timber Lake to match this level of effort in a written response that is presented by corporate in a “town hall” setting in the pavilion.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT? This question has been asked on various topics throughout the year and in previous seasons. It is routinely met with silence, deflection, or fingers pointed elsewhere. We have listed what we want to see in the Actions for Petition section. In my mind, it is truly unbelievable we must formally ask to be treated better…. in 2021!! A matched formal response to the patrons signing this petition is a great start to mend the broken pieces of the culture and relationship between management and paying customers, whether that be seasonals, transients, and/or guests.
It boils down to your communication with your customers. The tone, manner, frequency, professionalism, platform, and respect, MUST improve!

Paul was totally unprofessional when he came and told Chris to keep it down before 10 pm on September 4th 2021. I will not go into details at this moment but the music was not loud at all and it was way before quiet hours. I am sorry Chris had to experience this as he has done absolutely nothing wrong. BTL should be ashamed to have a staff member who thinks he has the authority to say what he did to Chris! BTL should offer Chris an apology. If BTL would provide entertainment such as dances and bands as they once did it would be a much enjoyable camping experience for all. Also, you should allow seasonal campers to use the Pavillion to host entertainment. I also over heard Paul tell Chris that he did not get permission from the office to have a party at his site. Since when did we need permission to have a party? Is BTL think this is a retirement park? Please address this .
