This petition was created by members of the Brickdam
Secondary Alumni Association (New York Chapter) to highlight concerns relating
to the operation and conditions of the school building located at 45 Brickdam
Stabroek, Georgetown, Guyana.
We are calling on Guyana’s Ministry of Education to lead the
way, with the assistance of the school board and teacher’s union, in ratifying
the following concerns so as to create an environment conducive to teaching and
learning:
-Relocate to a new building in Georgetown that would
facilitate the safety of students in the classroom and while on recreation,
better protect teachers and students from the weather (rain & sun), allow
for improved facilities, and allow for much needed space for the classrooms,
Science Lab, IT room, and teacher’s lounge.
-Not to be merged with any other schools.
-Enforce standards so that school staff focuses mainly on
students’ education.
-Provide text books necessary for effective teaching and learning.
Brickdam has been in this state for too long. There must be no merging, the name must go on!
