Professor Emeritus Bruce Hannah - Pratt Institute Board of Trustees honors Bruce with new title

MID 2007 Bruce deserves this. He embodies, exudes and promotes the fun that can be found in the design process. He was also always there and is a pillar of the institution. I'm late on this endorsement due to family illnesses but hope it went through. -ws

One of the first people I met when I came to Pratt in 2011, with whom I've had great connection and powerful inspiration. His ideas and work in the field of industrial design are a treasure that needs to be honored. To my good friend, Bruce!

I highly support this nomination of Bruce Hannah. I known him since 1985, worked on a couple committees with him, have always admired his strengths as a leader with his enthusiasm, and charisma. talent, his devotion and love of teaching at Pratt for over 40 years.

Bruce is the most enthusiastic, insightful, experienced person in Industrial Design. He and Pratt are synonymous, more connected than closest family.

Bruce is inspiring and insightful, and always being supportive to his students. I am very grateful to have him as my professor. He definitely deserves the honer!

Bruce Hannah is insightful, charismatic, and has more energy than most of his students. As a teacher, he very clearly understood each of his students, and knew how to propel their ideas further. I'm honored to have had the chance to learn from him.

As a professor, Bruce has the unique quality of not being prescriptive - he has always encouraged his students to develop their own values, guidelines, and design processes. Bruce is more than a teacher, he is an incredible friend. In my most embarrassing moments, he offered me encouragement. When I was stuck on an idea, he would provide me with inspiration. This nomination and title is well deserved - I stand behind it 100%!

I remember Bruce as a professor with passion, sense of design, and encouraging students.

Although Bruce retired from teaching last year, he continues to offer himself as a mentor to advise faculty and students. I recently visited the Faculty Dining Room and where he and his wife Tanya planned and accomplished a feat among the ages. Long overdue and what a generous gift indeed. Through his vision and design, he offers a long overdue perspective on our faculty and student accomplishments through their craft. A wonderful atmosphere to be share stories, advice and wisdom over lunch.

bruce is one of a kind. He embodies the best of the creative deciplines, even beyond industrial design. He inspires depth and breadth of thinking that is the best of Pratt. He is at the nexus of design guru, teacher, therapist, mad scientist with the honesty that is typically reserved for one's best friend. I highly recommend d Bruce for the title of Emeritus!
