Clearly impeccable research on a phenomenon that begs for an explanation.

I appreciate this cause to help those in need for proper diagnosis and treatment in order to help them live life in high quality.

To accept as fact the existence of an innate, immutable gender that is separate from biological sex, simply on the basis of self-reporting and feelings, without any clear scientific evidence is dangerous both to individuals and society. Every aspect of gender identity disorders and trends should be researched rigorously. Queer communities and their theories have become a welcoming place/ head space for fringe dwelling teenagers and young adults who are searching for groups with whom they can identify or be identified because they feel like misfits in mainstream society. This could be for any number of reasons including mental health issues, neurological differences and an unusual disposition or temperament. It would be very interesting to see a study into the personality types who gravitate towards queer theories/gender identity trends, and who have greater difficulty fitting into stereotypical roles in society.

I support transgender rights. But more work like Dr. Littman's is needed. Universities should not be held hostage to ideology.

I'm signing because I'm a scientist, and I strongly feel that special interest groups should never be able to suppress scientific study. If the findings are flawed, they can and will be disproved by further scientific study.

Does it make sense to allow a child to make a decision that permanently damages his or her body when he or she doesn't have a fully formed pre-frontal cortex?

I think it’s very possible that I would have been interested in transitioning when I was young if I had been presented with a supposed chance to escape being a girl as well as a chance to join a supportive “community.” It would have caused me so much harm.

This just shows how tolerant and objective the LGBT community is. They wonder why people don't listen to their science and dismiss it on sight. If they were truly objective, they would welcome this study and come together to point flaws and for Lisa to point flaws and so on until the research has seen enough variables to come to an objective conclusion.
But nope, science is political. Any science that doesn't paint transgenderism in a happy rainbow and sunshine picture is transphobic, homophobic, sexist, racist, misogynistic, antisemitic, buzzwords, buzzwords, buzzwords.
