Dr. Littman’s paper is a thoughtful, rich, and important first step toward greater knowledge of this new phenomenon. The work is peer-reviewed! Peer-reviewed papers get pulled for fraud (which the detractors no not allege), not for “triggering”. Suppression of this information and the perspective it provides is academically dishonest and unbefitting of a academic institution like Brown University or a peer-reviewed journal like PLoS1.

If I could only turn back time... my daughter was extremely feminine as a little girl. However, I was quite the opposite as a child. I was known as a Tomboy. I grew up to be happily female, and very heterosexual. Could there be a delayed genetic component, in that my daughter has inherited my predisposition towards wanting to be male? I disagree with my own statement. Or maybe - more likely - it was the strong coordinating influences of both friend groups and social media (Instagram, Tumblr, Snapchat, etc.) that ultimately led my daughter to decide “I am a boy” - when there was absolutely no indication of repression or suppression of said “male” identity as a young girl (less than 13 years of age)? Individual experiences may vary, indeed.

Let research be published and people read it and decide for themselves its veracity.

As a teacher, I am well aware of the duty of care we owe to children, adolescents and their parents. I see Dr Littman's work as a vital step in ensuring that parents, healthcare professionals, and the wider community, are able to support young people who experience gender dysphoria. I am horrified by the idea that much needed scientific enquiry be halted or ceased completely as a result of pressure and threats.

ROGD research is critical to understanding what is now motivating many teen girls to reject their developing bodies. Current trans activists (that is, not all transgender people, just the loudest activists) are not allowing any distinction between their experiences and others. Why not allow for distinction? This isn't about taking away trans rights or denying trans people's existence, it's about mental health. All behavior is motivated. But just as we wouldn't diagnose all depressed people's depression as originating from one singular common cause, same too, for gender dysphoria. To deny distinction and not be able to discuss openly the differences in how gender dysphoria manifests means many will have worse mental outcomes. Affirmation and hormones is not a guarantee or cure of alleviating gender dysphoria. Sure it works for some, other see modest gains, but still struggle w gender dysphoria, and others do poorly and suffer worse outcomes and regret. We NEED this addressed and discussed, not buried in a hole.

Littmans work will help protect young people from the harm of unnecessary medical transition. Please promote it. Bowing to pressure to silence it will harm children

I an an academic, full professor, with an established international reputation for my work on sexuality and gender. I am very concerned about young people and particularly the exponential increase in RIGD amongst girls

As a professional social researcher, I am appalled that activists are trying to suppress genuine, peer-reviewed research like this simply because they do not like the subject of the research. The method used to conduct this research is perfectly valid, and is, in fact, the exact same method used by research conducted by organisations such as Stonewall in the UK which has produced statistics that are accepted unquestioningly by the same people who are trying to suppress this research.

Transgenderism a repressive patriarchal cult. Don't give in to the cult crap. And make medical corporations stop sterilizing kids for profit.

I’ve been observing this issue for years now. I’ve read the peer-reviewed research and listened to hours of lectures and read many articles and blogs. There is in fact an active, intentional, cover-up about the dangers of youth medical transitions. They are doing this because they don’t want kids they know are going to be a trans adults to be denied access to immediate transition. So borderline kids who are in danger are being viewed as acceptable collateral damage. They should have to justify this view with actual data on cost/benefit which not surprisingly they aren’t that interested in gathering. By “they” I mean “affirmation model” advocates and I’m saying this as someone who has listened to hours and hours and hours of their presentations at gender conferences.

Academy freedom is essential for the progress of science. Censorship, no platforming, personal attacks and shutting down research hurts and does not help our understanding of trans phenomena. Critical interpretations and additional empirical and theoretical research are welcome.

Littman's paper quite rightly points to the need for more research. That call needs to be heard and heeded.
