Open, challenging, honest but respectful discussion is essential in this debate. Stopping, silencing and closing it down will help no one and actually cause huge backlash to those with gender dysphoria in need of help, kindness, understanding and respect. I agreed with the above and hope for everyone the decision will be changed.

One of the jobs of scientists is to use data to challenge assumptions about what is true. Dr. Littman study clearly does exactly that, and hiding it sends a chilling message to all researchers in every field that academia values assumptions over objective truth.

This is exactly the kind of research I looked for and couldn't find, to help me, as a parent, better support my teen struggling with GD. It always helps to know you are not alone when dealing with parental challenges. More information is always better. Thank you Lisa Littman!

Study is peer reviewed and acknowledged its weaknesses. Anyone who objects should publish an opinion piece. Not attempt to attack the scholarship in this manner.

Patients deserve a culture of open enquiry in research , otherwise we will walk of a cliff , that
is now happening .

The research findings need to be published, discussed and peer reviewed. To do otherwise is to give in to bullying.

Research should absolutely be scrutinized and debated, but it should never be stifled because of disagreeable subject matter.

My daughter demanded for nearly 5 years that she was transgender. Forced everyone to use Male pronouns, changed her name, swore she would start T and get surgeries when she turned 18. Now she no longer claims trans ID. Happy in life, successful in work and relationship with a nice young man - a real man, who accepts himself and her. If I had given in to her demands, we would be in a very bad place right now.

The extraordinary number of referrals. Th change in the demographics (age and sex). The prevalence is ASD indicators. For all the reasons it is essential for further research to,take place. We can't ignore want is happening and we can't silence researchers.

As a healthcare economist specializing in researching trends in over diagnosis and over treatment, and as a mother of a social activist teen girl afflicted with ROGD under the influence of a circle of like-minded friends, I can attest first hand ROGD, separate and distinct from true transgenderism, and is being erroneously treated as "transgender as usual". The "low regret" statistics from 50 years ago used to justify hormonal and surgical treatments will not apply to this new condition. ROGD in kids who never previously had any gender dysphoria before or at the onset of puberty needs to be recognized as a new and distinct social media-mediated condition, and we must recognize we don't yet know how to safely and effectively treat it. Rapid access to irreversible hormones and surgeries must be stopped in favor of watchful waiting, until these kids' brain mature, which happens around 25-26. This sort of research, however politically unpopular in our polarized world, must be de-politicized and allowed to continue, and it must be taken seriously. Otherwise, hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of children--mostly young women--will be irreversibly harmed, while lining the pockets of the profit-driven medical establishment.

Do not allow ideology to suppress scientific research into a subject that we know far too little about and that is having massive ramifications in the lives of many young people and their families.

Dr. Littman's study was an excellent start into researching what has suddenly seem to be an explosion of teens, mostly girls, identifying as Transgender influenced by social media. The activists that attacked the study on Twitter CAN NOT speak for the parents who are going through this with their teens, and should have no input into the study being done/posted! Please return it!

It's shameful the university caved to antagonizing activists. You can't censor science when it doesn't fit into your worldview.

The preBrown University shuld produce an uncompromising statement on the importance of Dr. Litman's work and their unqualified support for her and for academic freedom from partisan pressures.
