As a graduate and parent I feel strongly that it's important that universities feel free to undertake research in politically controlversial areas, where the studies and follow-up work may have real benefit in helping our children to lead fully and happy lives

Please let freedom of speech and thought prevail. That's the way science, people and civilization can solve riddles and save lives.
Don't silence those who engage in questioning and debate. Specially if they are polite and agree to listen to criticism or questions posed to them.
Dogma has no place in democratic society.

I’m horrified that an academic body is censoring peer reviewed and published research on an important and emergent health issue in response to a pressure group.

We, the signatories to this letter, overwhelmingly support the rights of transgender people, but we want better diagnostic and mental health care for youth who suddenly demand serious medical interventions, particularly in the absence of a history of dysphoria

Any movement which really cared about young people would be conducting it's own research and welcoming data. The silencing of anybody who questions this current dogma shows very sinister undertones

It is not only extremely unethical and unprofessional to catter to political correctness and the narrtives of groups with power, at the sake of professionalism and academic freedom, but it's criminal from you to deceive partents whose childs' life or health, may depend on your doing the right thing and publishing the TRUTH
We're now creating a legal group because we need it so badly. We will not be spat at again....if you know what I mean.

This is important information that throws a light on a new phenomenon. We need more information of this, not less. Don’t be bullied into silencing academics when we should be encouraging dialogue.

There needs to be much more research into this. The idea of performing irreversible surgeries and sterilizing hormone treatments on confused teens who may end up regretting it later has the potential to be a massive medical scandal a la lobotomies.
