A planning application has been made to turn the former 15 bedroom country house Broomhill Hotel into a 99 bedroom care home for the elderly and mentally ill. 84 bedrooms will be added over three stories if this massive new development goes ahead. This will affect the look of the Broomhill from the surrounding areas of currently pretty countryside, and it also will have a dramatic impact on rural daily lives of local people as traffic will significantly increase on the quiet country lane serving Broomhill and the dangerous junction at the A5199. The local country environment will be significantly degraded by the increase in noise and light pollution.

We would like to clarify it's not the fact that it's going to be a care home (for both the elderly and the mentally ill) that we're objecting to but the scale of it. It would be a really lovely site for a small scale personal care home, but a massive industrial one is no good for the surrounding countryside or the patients - the objection is to the scale and unsympathetic nature of the development but not to the change of use.

Please help oppose the development by lodging a complaint to cphillips@daventrydc.gov.uk  with reference
