This is a very short sighted move to close a valuable resource. I hope the decision will be reconsidered.

I studied at the University of Surrey and spent part of my first year training at the restaurant on site - this was invaluable to understand how this works. If we want to promote this industry, then we need to have these places available to learn in!

I wanted to make my masters degree at brooks. Closing the restaurant would be a shame...

Degrees are nothing without the passion that colleagues can instill in them. A training restaurant is an educational tool that can be used not just for hospitality students but for research and teaching for any business degree. Closing it makes the learning experience poorer and suggests that decision makers are myopic. A training restaurant is a lab in the same way a sports course has a training lab, find ways to minimise costs and maximise learning. Closing it is the easy decision.

Hope brookes restaurants keep open. Most of hospitality students worked in there before. For me I do not want it close.

Please keep the restaurant, this is not just a restaurant, it is also the place where our hotel management school students dream of starting.

This restaurant was where I had my first chef and waitressing experience and it was so valuable to my studies and allowed me to learn from my mistakes in a safe environment. Please do not take this valuable learning opportunity away from the future hospitality students.

Loss of the Brookes Restaurant would reflect poorly on the profile of School of Hospitality Management and restrict the training experience for students.

This restaurant is a highly regarded asset for the University and also the wider local community. As a communication exercise you have at best have shot yourselves in the foot by not properly explaining the rationale for this and it is perceived by many as an attack on OSHM which enjoys an international reputation within the sector as well as attracting a good number of fee paying international students. Brookes Restaurant gives insight into the operational working of the sector, develops transferrable skills and is nurtures confidence and enterprising creativity. It is surely a USP, the whole University and the ranking and reputation of a highly regarded learning programme will surely suffer. I urge you to reconsider this decision.

Shame on you Oxford Brookes! As a former student of the International Hospitality Management degree Brooke’s Restaurant was the focal point of my four years at the university. It gave me the opportunity to learn and develop in a ‘live environment’ and was an important resource for all. I do not understand how you could even consider closing the restaurant ... the course is arguably what Oxford Brookes is best known for. Its place in the world rankings reflects this and surely adds value to the wider university. Instead of making cuts to such an important asset why not look to cut some of the incompetent and overpaid senior management team who clearly don’t know what’s best for the university. It seems clear that the university is hell bent on not only closing the restaurant but also destroying the course itself. It seems strange in a time where Brexit and other challenges pose a risk to student numbers for the university to damage the reputation of one of their most prestigious courses. I urge you to reconsider!

It is essential that the Brookes Restaurant remains an integral part of the teaching at the Oxford School of Hospitality Management so that students can develop the essential, practical, skills, competence and confidence needed by employers to deliver exceptional world class standards of service excellence. Classroom teaching, reading and lectures alone are insufficient when it comes to transferring the theory of 'front of house' service into practice. If the School loses its teaching restaurant it will lose its long standing as a centre of excellence for hospitality education.

Tertiary "education" for the hospitality industry is vital to re address the hierarchy of the old order of professionals. The resturant is a vital part of praxis for both the students and consumers.

It would be a shame. The staff are super helpful and happy to be there, a great opportunity for them to train as part of the Hospitality Management course. Keep it open!

I spent many a day during my HND course at the restaurant in the 1970s (then Oxford Poly). The best training space I have ever seen for both newbies and then for final year students - rememebr the Brillat Savarin Society; Cracknell, Kaufmann & Giannino - the best!
