Closing Brookes Restaurant would seriously reduce the credibility and success of the hospitality school. If the central space is required for other projects then a new well located restaurant should be sought.

Surely the restaurant is a vital part of the degree programmes in hospitality - it certainly was integral when I worked at Brookes and students would not have been so well prepared for their work placements and future careers without it.

I’ve eaten here a few times as a Parent if one of Oxford Brooke’s Graduates on the Hospitality Degree Course .
It has a lovely ambience allowing the Students to work and train in a lovely Restaurant providing a very high standard of food at a competitive price .

I graduated in 94 and Brookes restaurant was always with my involvement with Brookes - have had memorable events with both professors and students in current industry as is we need to inspire young kids to join our industry especially in cheffing/waitressing it is getting harder to recruit and platform like this allow student to realise their passions and that there can be a career on this field

Really shocked to hear this, as I feel that Brookes Restaurant was a integral part of my education at Brookes. Not really sure how the university plans to deliver the same standard of hospitality training without it.

Brooke's restaurant was an integral part of my university life and should be viewed as an outstanding teaching and learning resource. If it is being closed because it is losing money, that should be balanced out by student fees and should not be regarded as a business. The restaurant is part of what makes Brooke's hospitality school special and a cut above other schools.

The quality of Brookes Restaurant, the enthusiasm of the staff and the direct link with so many high-end professionals is what sets your course in International Hospitality Management head and shoulders above competitors. Why throw away your recruitment trump card when you have found a winning formula? It certainly prepared my daughter for her ongoing career within the industry.

The restaurant is a vital tool in providing experience for the students. Without it, Brookes would jeopardise its reputation as one of the best hospitality schools in the country. Close at your own risk.

The restaurant is a key place of knowledge transfer for students of hospitality at Oxford Brookes. Getting rid of it is tantamount to abolishing degree days for the fine art programme, or the shared exhibition space in the Abercrombie Annexe. Students need to be eased into the professions theye have chosen through targeted work experience - the loss of the Brookes Restaurant would nudge that door nearly closed for a lot of people.

The restaurant is one of the highlights of the course and was a great place to share a meal with friends- it was also one of the reasons I chose the hospitality course at brookes because it would give me work experience before my placement year in industry

This would be a DEVASTATING loss, robbing students from hands on experience that is CRUCIAL in our business, before going out there.

My sister does international hospitality management at Brooke’s and this restaurant gave her the perfect practical place to learn and become more confident in both the kitchen and front of house. It would be such a shame to see it close and know future students wouldn’t have that opportunity.

Closing this excellent restaurant is an entirely foolish idea, doubtless suggested on financial grounds.
In the first place, the restaurant provides a fine showcase for the skills, abilities and training of an important part of Brookes's work.
Then, as others have said, the restaurant and kitchen play a similar role to the laboratories required for teaching in the experimental sciences. This practical work is an essential and integral part of the education, which will be diminished without it. Retain at all costs!!
