Brookes Restaurant was an integral part of my university experience and I believe that it is so worthwhile for students to gain hands on experience before going into the world of work

Alumni form 2013 - I wouldn't have been able to have such a grasp on the restaurant industry were it not for Brookes Restaurant! Preparing for our event and having a hands on experience in the kitchen were one of the most influential moments from my degree!

As an alumni of the Oxford School of Hospitality Management, I recognise that the Oxford Brookes restaurant was an essential part of my experience and learning throughout the entirety of the course. Closing the restaurant would be a great loss to the students' development as it would mean taking away an environment where students come to build the skills and confidence which prepare them for the industry. Great hospitality schools need to have on site businesses in which students can learn the core principles of hospitality from the first day of the course till it's last day.

This is a vital learning environment for hospitality professionals. Does this mean students focus only on theory and not the practical?

The Brookes Restaurant, as many have said ad nauseum, is a fundamental pillar of the Oxford Brookes OSHM experience, and one that allows the school to stand out from the rest. If it is not commercially viable, I'd argue that it would be worth making MORE of an investment into it, think of the Jamie Oliver Fifteen model. Have it actually open, every evening, employ students to work there for money and profit, employ a full time restaurant manager, head chef etc so that it is a professional environment that additionally functions as a teaching laboratory during the day (as it currently does). This is the path to victory for all parties, closing it and giving up on it benefits nothing.

Brooke’s alumni 2007 - the training in this restaurant was invaluable to me, Sue, Amanda and Jan provided me with essential skills and encouragement during my degree

Brookes Restaurant has been such a vital part of my experience at Brookes. Everything for me has started from there: my first Open Day, my first friendships and my first connections with members of the industry. That restaurant has been a solid point of reference for many over the years..please don't close it!

Im an alumni of the International Hospitality School. Brookes Restaurant is a crucial element for the students and it's what makes studying hospitality in Oxford Brookes different from the rest of the universities. I would not have chosen to study in Brookes if it weren't for the promise of hands-on and functional experience that Brookes Restaurant offers. Shutting it down would be a huge mistake.

Brookes Restaurant is a very important learning laboratory for students and an integral part of the hospitality degree. The University should commit to its refurbishment and continuation

I studied Hotel & Restaurant Management at Oxford Brookes university and I learnt the most from my time in the restaurant and during my event management double module delivering my own event and that of others. It was the closest we ever got to actual industry experience before going on our year in industry. To lose this facility would be a travesty.

As an Hotel & Restaurant Management BSC(hons) graduate from Brookes I have not only fond memories of working in Brookes Restaurant but also know how important it was to my degree and everyone else who took it. The practical skills learnt were vital when going into industry and the level of understanding it gave us was invaluable.

To allow Brookes Restaurant to close, would be a very sad lose for everybody concerned, both students and staff!

Professional staff and fabulous service. Surely integral to the Hospitality degree. Criminal to even think of closing it.

Closing the restaurant would be highly damaging to the School, its students and the quality and reputation of its courses. Please don't do it.

Would love to know why there is not funding for this important facility madness!
