Absolute lunacy closing the restaurant - it is a vital part of a well rounded approach to teaching hospitality management. A decision to close it would be a clear example of the bottom line taking priority over the schools position as a leader in hospitality education.

My family have been going over many years to Brookes restaurant to celebrate many special occasions and work lunch also attend a few of the students theme evenings. I would be very sad to see this closed for good.

Perhaps a reform would not go amiss, but permenant closure would be a mistake. The whole building of the hospitality school now looks like a poor relation to the rest of the university.

This cannot be closed. When I look back on my time at Brookes, Brookes Restaurant was an amazing experience. Now that I am a Recruitment Manager, I can see the value that the students get from this as it allows them to develop and sets them up for a career in the industry.

This made my time at Brookes special. The Restaurant is a great place to learn in your first year, for both foh and boh. And then again in final year for putting everything from the degree into practice. It would be a shame and a total loss if it disappeared.

As an alumni from 1977 and being actively involved with the school for the past 20 plus years supporting students through the mentoring program and their entrepreneurship modules I am appalled to think this is even being considered.
It is a resource that should be cherished, embraced and used to its full potential as it is a vital to give students a realism that will provide an experience other than a classroom!
This is cost cutting exercise that could be avoided with a little bit more creative thinking.
I suggest the powers to be take a long look at https://www.okn1.co.uk/ for a model that could easily work for Brookes.
In an industry crying out for motivated and well trained staff this is nothing short of a backward step and yet another nail in the coffin for a school I was once proud to be associated with.

BROOKES RESTAURANT is the USP that makes Brookes' hospitality course so attractive. It is the practical aspect and the most useful for application in the industry.

The Brookes Restaurant is a vital component of the International Hospitality course which trains students from having zero experience to preparing individuals for their placement year and future careers ahead of them. Additionally, it is a community hub for the whole course and unites everyone together. It would be a tragedy to see such a rewarding restaurant to be closed down.

I have many meals at the restaurant with good food and service. Why stop a good thing?

Not only has Oxford Brookes made the industry placement year (by far the most valuable year) optional, it is now thinking of closing its training restaurant? The training restaurant was probably the only redeeming feature of the hospitality course, without it I don’t know why anyone would study there. When it comes to consumer choice, and paying £9250 a year, students will vote with their feet and go elsewhere such as The Edge Hotel School, The Hague and Switzerland. Brookes, you were, at a time, the best hospitality university in the UK. Without the training restaurant all students are getting are degrees in essay writing and that won’t help anyone run a business.

Brookes Restaurant is fundamental to Oxford Brookes' capacity to produce graduates with an appropriate level of operational experience. In my view that basic grounding is key to the good reputation that OSHM graduates have within the industry. Both the individual students and the overall reputation of graduates within the industry would harmed by it's closure.

It's a brilliant training and education environment and the quality of the food served is outstanding - deserves to be much better known not closed.
