As a former member of staff it was clear the benefit students obtained from their involvement

Deeply saddened and shock to hear that this superb facility is at risk. I have been coming with friends and family for over eight years. Have always had wonderful food and service in a top class environment Come on Brookes - don’t destroy this course

This is one of the jewels in Brookes' crown and a great asset to the community who, to be fair, have to put up with quite a lot of problems associated with having a large and successful university on their door step. The university should keep it open by exploring imaginative ways of developing it as a business as well as a great educational asset.

The restaurant is a training facility for hospitality students, so they can receive top quality training. It's crazy to close it. Brookes seems to have a habit of making idiotic cuts like this - like closing down Oestopathy. Madness.

A frightening act of vandalism. The Business School may not understand the way in which Hospitality works - but this is a valuable asset both for the food technologies and for the idea of competent service provision - often lacking in the remainder of the business world. Brookes have a history of foolish cutbacks - Modern Languages anyone? This just emphasises the "fur coat with no knickers" mentality described to me by a previous Brookes employee.
How Brookes expect to continue a successful International Hospitality degree programme without preparing students for life in industry I have no idea!

This practical experience of the Right way to operate a kitchen and restaurant provides a vital resource to students. I am shocked that academics are even considering this avenue.

I'm very shocked to hear this and was very much looking forward participating in some of the courses this coming year (e.g. bread making, festive bread making). I was so impressed by the standard of service and food at my recent visit, so this is a shame.

Barmy proposal to shut down a smooth-running restaurant that benefits college, community, city, students and visitors.
Is Brookes University on the brain-transplant waiting list? It needs to be.

As a former student of Oxford Brookes from 20+ years ago I feel strongly that the restaurant was a big part of our degree course and gave a good insight into every aspect of planning and managing a catering establishment something that would be sorely missed were it to go. Being still in the industry myself I can see the benefits of having such a training establishment for students and would ask for it to remain.

Brookes Restaurant is a cornerstone of the Hospitality Degree at Oxford Brookes, remove this and the course will never be the same again, a huge opportunity lost. Losing the chance for incredibly talented young chefs and future restaurant managers to test their mettle before going on to work with some of the top hospitality establishments in the world would be a huge waste. As an industry we need to fight to keep catering colleges and University Restaurants open to ensure our industry is future proofed with the impending governmental changes likely to have a major impact on the very future of hospitality in the UK. Close the restaurant and Oxford Brookes will lose a legacy.

I do strongly believe that it would be a double mistake to close the restaurant: it would mean that students no longer had immediate contact with the full range of experience of operating a restaurant, and seeing how the various elements interconnect; and it would deprive the university of a marvellous showpiece window on how well it trains its students
