Bringing Midwifery Care to the Battlefords and Area

This is something I am highly passionate about. When I had my daughter last year I looked at the available options in our area for care and found them lacking. While the care from the doctors and nurses here in the Battlefords I received was adequate I do believe that having Midwifery care in our area would provide a service that is greatly needed. The opening of a birthing centre or the option of a home birth, as well as a more thorough and personal prenatal care is something that I, as well as many other local moms would be very interested in.

For my sister who wants to be a midwife...

Although I was incredibly happy with my traditional doctor care, I feel it's a great option!

Midwives should be the first option and doctors second only for high risk pregnancy.

I am from BC, where midwives assisted approx. 30% of births in my region (lower Vancouver Island). I absolutely support midwifery care, especially as a social worker who understands that a births with unnecessary interventions can lead to PTSD or PPD. I am the facilitator for a birth trauma/ppd/loss group in Lloydminster, and understand there has been a lot of traumatic birth experiences in the Lloydminster hospital. Midwifery care will be a welcome alternative!!!

Bring midwifery care into the Battleford and Heartland Health Regions!

I enjoyed home water births for 2 of my 3 babies in BC, and would love to have that option here if we have any more. My midwifes gave excellent service, were very knowledgable, and took the time to educate us on all of our options, etc. They worked well with the hospital and were able to transfer me and continue my care in hospital when I experienced hemoraging after my son was born.

We need more in SK in general and a birthing center!!

Every mother in Canada should have access to a midwife.

Midwife or Madula. A birthing centre or at home births would be sooo much better than birth in the hospital!
