I think Solomon should have received a reprimand, but should not have been fired. If it hadn't been for the notorious Gomeshi scandal, it's unlikely Solomon would have been fired.

Bring back Evan Solomon, he is the best reporter I've ever watched on Canadian News channels. Evan asks the hard questions, and keeps the interviews more interesting than any other reporter. I won't want to watch the the boring reporting now. Evan is likable, asks tough questions - the ones Canadians really want answered. He is trustworthy, and human. I don't believe he should be fired, and will have no interest watching CBC if they destroy his career over this reason.

Although what Evan did is not right it is hardly grounds for termination. A suspension would have been more appropriate. Although it is highly unlikely Evan will return to the CBC I do hope he moves on to something similar, his episodes of p&p and the house we're always my favourite. I always found him tough but fair.
Maybe if he doesn't get a national gig anytime soon he could do something using patreon as a means to pay for it...I would donate to that!

I have sent the following email to everyone I can think of connected to CBC:
I was in the workforce for over 40 years. During part of that time I worked in Human Resources, and during parts of that time I was a staff manager.
I have never seen a workplace where immediate dismissal was the response to other than the most egregious offense. I am most familiar with something like oral reprimand-written reprimand-suspension-dismissal, with opportunity between each step for the staff member to rectify his/her actions, under close supervision.
Does CBC not have such a series of escalating disciplinary actions?
How in the world could Solomon`s apparent transgression merit immediate dismissal?
I know you can`t comment on this specific case, but I eagerly await a response regarding the general topic of disciplinary action that is in proportion to an offense.
We need Solomon, one of the most articulate, knowledgeable, and skilled political interviewers and hosts, now more than ever.

Discipline if necessary but please re-hire. Evan is an asset to CBC and Canadians. If will apologize & admit on air lapse of judgement and withdraw from selling art through journalism contacts, he will be forgiven because we basically trust his journalistic integrity and practice. He made a mistake. We need him at this time in our history. You can do this CBC.

How is it that Solomon cannot use his contacts to personal advantage, but John Baird can use his to land a lucrative job so he can LEAVE politics where he may well have implemented policies to ENSURE his welcome into the business world?

Power and Politics, and specifically with the outlook and abilities of host Evan Solomon, is one of the only media programs that actually attempts to hold politicians to account, and has valid, insightful commentaries and discussions on policies with the Power Panel and other guests. Rosie Barton is more than qualified to take over, however I DO NOT agree with the actions taken by CBC management regarding the supposed conflict in this case. Due process, once again, has gone out the window in our supposed great nation.
