The show will never be the same without Evan. CBC rushed to judgement, in my opinion, and should have allowed Evan to explain to the viewing/listening public (taxpayers). I do not see how this situation questions his credibility as an impartial journalist.

CBC Execs reacted in a knee jerk manner in light of their screw up on the Guomishe (sp) file and Evan became the scape goat

Everyone makes mistakes... that's how we learn in life... Evan did not deserve to be fired. CBC over reacted on Evan because of their under reaction on Jian. He's an optical scapegoat offered up for the CBC critics out there, who have a visceral dislike for anything CBC. Surely we can do better. Give Evan the opportunity to apologize on The National... and then everyone will be better for it. Live and let live... Canadians are compassionate people !!
