This firing was definitely heavy-handed.
How the CBC expects us to be ok with it when they allow Rex Murphy and Amanda Lang to continue on the CBC payroll is beyond me!
Suspension and an ethics course and re-instatement after some time off would have been more appropriate.

Evan has brought so much credibility to P & P over the years. This program, under Evan's leadership, was meaningful and respected.
Saling paintings has nothing to do with journalism. We need Evan Solomon back to the Power & Politics.

So disappointed in CBC. Bring back Evan!! What happened to a suspension vs firing? Many people have friends we meet through work and to say a conflict of interest has been broken when it has not impacted the job he does on Power & Politics,

He hasn't done anything different than hundred's or even thousand's have done as well, look at what harper is doing to OUR Canada and no one has said anything ??? We will win tho. Right always tops wrong :/seeing as the Cons run CBC who was the one to fire him ?? Just disgusting thing to do

Solid Reporter who made a big but believable misjudgment. The consequence of being fired exceeds his behaviour.

I only became interested in politics after watching Evan Solomon on P&P. Now I'm hooked. Only show I watch on TV. Not the same without him and definitely will not watch now :(

Double standards... Amanda Lang, Rex Murphy and others get off scott free while the best and one of the toughest journalists gets fired for a questionable lapse in judgement. I have been a cbc fan since childhood but am increasingly disallusioned withh the weak leadership of this institution.. The are ove compensating because of the colossal screw up of their handling of the ghomeshi affair.

A suspension is appropriate in the circumstances. Dismissal is not.

I do not know Evan personally, but I found all the comments by his Power & Politics colleagues today very touching. It does seem as though there are different sets of standards for the various hosts at the CBC.

The punishment does not in any way fit the crime. Come on CBC, show us you are not Harper's puppet!
