It’s frustrating that Northside ISD still doesn’t offer wrestling in its athletic programs. So many students are missing out on scholarship opportunities and college exposure simply because the district hasn’t invested in the sport. Wrestling teaches discipline, grit, and work ethic—skills that change lives. Other districts around San Antonio already offer it, and their students are benefiting big time. Northside is falling behind while others prepare their athletes for college and beyond. Our kids deserve better. It’s time for NISD to bring wrestling to its schools and give our youth the same shot at success.

Wrestling is safer than many sports and assists fine and gross motors skills as well as increases athleticism.

My son attends an NISD school (Taft) and I was disappointed to hear he wouldn’t be able to learn to wrestle. He plays football, power lifts and is just starting jiu jitsu.

After moving here by way of the military, I was disappointed to hear that NISD doesn’t have a wrestling program at the schools that my son can participate in. Wrestling is an incredible sport and is to our students’ detriment that it isn’t offered to our kids and community.

Wrestling needs to be a thing like it is in Austin. This would bring talent to our schools as kids choose to leave for other districts that have wrestling. This will also expose kids to a new sport that will build them positively.

I did not know there wasn’t a wrestling program in NISD! That’s terrible. I have been looking forward to my 10-year-old son being able to get into wrestling. I was just researching for some information to find out there isn’t a program at all? I really hope you are able to make this happen- Good luck!!!
