i have used Uber in several larger cities. If Birmingham wants to compete on a national level for business we need Uber.

We need the push of free market transportation for the economic growth for the City of Birmingham. Since, the tourists and public will need it due to approaching of The World Games in 2021 in this great city.

I'm embarrassed for Birmingham when I host people from other cities who are accustomed to using Uber and I have to explain why we don't have it here. We can do better!

In a free market, it is in the best interest of services like Uber and Lyft to ensure the safety of its customers. It's time for the Birmingham City Council to recognize this, and let go of an antiquated regulatory system that has little do with safety, and much to do with protecting politically-connected special interests from competition.

As a person who is unable to drive because of multiple disabilities, I am dependent on other people to get me to and from work, to go to doctors appoints and anywhere else I need to go.. I do ride the bus but, lets face it they can only do so much. We need Uber in Birmingham.

i have NEVER had a good experience with taxis in Birmingham. They are often late, dirty and sometimes don't show up at all. We deserve options.

I think more options for people to get home safely would be great for bars and restaurants. Right now it is almost impossible for someone to get a cab when they are intoxicated. They have to wait so long, that they often times give up and want to drive home.

I live in Pittsburgh, PA where our Mayor fought for this service! Uber/Lyft has made commuting without a car possible.

Before moving back to Birmingham, Uber was a constant part of my daily life. Even now when I travel, I always use their service. To say I miss it is an understatement. Cabs here are few and far between, not to mention, unreliable. It's sad that Birmingham will never be able to reach it's full potential due to the people in power being resistant to change and the needs of this city. I was appalled that Birmingham had the opportunity to bring Uber to our city, and yet decided against it. With a city that has seen so much progression lately, we need Uber. It would not only benefit the people of our city, but also tourists. Wake up and start listening to the people of this city!

It's sad that this is what it takes to take care of our young people. More people drink and drive as opposed to waiting 20-30 minutes on your cabs that don't have a 100% show up rating. Truly sad That one woman and her ties to the Cab companies is keeping this from happening.
