Yes ride sharing is a "business disrupter" for the woeful state of Birmingham's taxi services. The sorry state of taxi service needs to be disrupted.

Birmingham needs to embrace technology and innovation like Uber to keep the city's growth downtown and in south side going positively. The problems experienced at Sloss a couple weeks ago will make Birmingham a city that people will think twice about coming to when they can catch the same bands in a city that has Uber or Lyft, and not have to wait an hour for a taxi in 100 degree heat. Our visitors deserve better, NOT to mention the CITIZENS of Birmingham. These services will help people in the burbs come to Southside and not risk DUI's, etc....I could go on and on but let's just get it done.

I think that the city government should put up no obstacles to Uber, Lyft, or similar businesses coming to Birmingham.

The only time I've taken a taxi in Birmingham, it was after a friend's wedding. We all stayed in a hotel together after the wedding because everyone was in town at the same time for once. The next morning around 7am, I waited outside of the hotel in the freezing cold for over an hour and a half for a taxi. Uber and Lyft are needed in a city like Birmingham.

When you have ppl trying not to DRINK AND DRIVE who then have to wait for an hour or more for a cab?? Happens EVERY time! Obviously this means there is PLENTY of room for more drivers in this city. Get with the program!

Yellow Cab cannot meet with weekend surges and other spikes in demand. My girlfriend and I regularly use cabs when going to events where both of us will be drinking. The cabs are routinely 30 minutes late and on 3 separate occasions this year have not shown up at all. Uber and Lyft provide a valuable alternative to local cab companies.
